Chapter II: You Can’t Fight City Hall.
“Zentar, to my hand!” Matt called out. The dagger slowly floated towards Matt, and landed on the table next to him. “What did you find out?”
“Well, it appears our new friends from the Midnight Order are after something called the ‘Midnight Clock’. They need to put it together so..”
“Is it like a jig-saw puzzle?”
“Would you listen?” The dagger stated, in its hard voice.  “No, one of the pieces was found by the Governor. It has a seven on it, and he thinks it’s a sign of good luck. I want you to get to that piece first. Then once you do that, send it to those girls.”
“Fine, tomorrow.” Matt said, as he cleaned a small green gun. How do I steal a shard of glass from the governor?

“Jewel, step forward.” Lady Sillan said. The green haired woman appeared, with Rose at her side.
“I am here Lady Sillan. Even Lord Kuzor couldn’t keep me away.”
“The leave you have asked for is over. Get the piece tomorrow, or die trying.  Rose, since you have shown such great promise, I want you to go with her. You two succeed, or else. Nothing must get in the way of us and that piece, nothing.”
“Yes, my queen.” Jewel said with a bow.  Rose simply grinned, and followed Jewel out the door. Lady Sillan would get her pieces. One way or another.

The Governor stared at the new good luck charm that had fallen on him in the park. He couldn’t identify where it was from, but it was very gothic looking. He quickly recognized the roman numeral VII (7), and had pocketed it. But recently these two weird ladies had been following him around.
The Governor slid the good luck charm into his desk and left. When he left, the two girls silently watched the motions he went through to get past the security. Without the Governor’s knowledge, they disappeared. Till tomorrow.

Amy waited outside her juku for Greg. She knew that whatever had happened between them had to stop. Romance and love just weren’t in her dictionary right now, no matter how cute he was. She just didn’t know how to tell him.
Finally she saw him on his way out,  he was walking with a friend of his. Of course he waved his friend goodbye, and ran over to see her. Greg was charming, brave, and definitely handsome. Amy just didn’t know how to tell him that she couldn’t see him anymore.
“Ames! Guess what, the greatest thing just happened!” Greg said, as he reached into his briefcase.
“Yes Greg?” Amy asked, as a paper was shoved into her face. It said something along the lines of acceptance to a game show called ‘I.Q. Testers.’ Amy winced. She too had been accepted, and she would have to go for the credit she needed. It was not that she wanted to show off her intelligence, the school just wouldn’t let her pass without another credit to her name. At least, not with high honors.
    “That’s wonderful Greg.”
“Ames, want to celebrate? I heard you got in too. All right, I saw it in a dream, but this is great! We’ll be there together, anyway back to celebrating, I’ve got this great new video, and…” But Greg’s voice trailed as he looked into her eyes. “Is that really what you want?”
    “What do you mean Greg?”
“Nothing, never mind. There’s always a first time, eh?” He said, more to himself.  Greg turned, and walked stiffly away. Amy thought about his remarks, and gasped. He had practically read her thoughts about wanting him ‘out’ romantically. She looked down at her feet, and wondered if that was really what she wanted. It had to be, she had never been wrong about something like this before. Then again… she had never been in a situation like this before. Why did she have to be a teenager in a love?

Professor Tomoe waited as his daughter hesitantly opened the letter. Hotaru read over the letter, sighed wearily, and showed it to her father. Professor Tomoe’s eyes lit up upon seeing it. He grinned broadly, and shouted out “My little girl’s going to be on television!”
“Papa, I don’t want to be on television. Everyone will be looking at me.”
“Precisely! Then you, my dear, will show them how intelligent you are! Come on, you know you’re practically a genius! All you have to do is keep up your Chemistry scores and your Phys. Ed. grade and you’ll do great.”
“Alright, Papa. I’ll do it.” But I won’t like it. Hotaru got up, and wandered aimlessly to the library. Why did she have to be smarter than everyone else?

The Governor walked around the building one more time. He had been followed, and was cornered. That much he knew. But by who, or what, he didn’t. It was then that he saw two beautiful girls standing in front of him. He was hesitant, and then yelled out for them to identify themselves.
“No need for you to worry Governor.” Jewel responded, as a wave of nostalgia passed over the man. He stumbled and fell. The lucky number sliding from his coat pocket. Rose lunged for the piece, but a green streak of light knocked it away.
“Who was that?” Rose asked, as she saw a young boy dressed in white. He yawned lazily, and picked up the piece.
“I am Lucent Knight, yadda, yadda, yadda. Now, can I get to sleep?”
“Lucent Knight, never heard of ‘ya’.” Jewel shouted. “Rose, get out of here! I’ll handle this nuisance.” Rose disappeared, and Jewel looked at the boy with her green eyes. “Hand over the piece,”
“No. Zentar, to my hand!” He yelled, as a green tinted dagger flew towards the boy’s hand.
Hmm, he has control of that dagger. Maybe he is stronger then I thought.  No matter, he’ll die easily. He has no magic.
“Listen, you ugly witch.  Get lost, or I’ll fry you with electricity.” It was an eerie, almost metallic voice clanged. Its exact origin couldn’t be stated, but Jewel only laughed.
Did this boy really think he could beat her? That was funny. “Sure you will!”
A burning ball of flame hurtled towards the boy, bouncing harmlessly away.  He pointed the dagger into the air, and let go. The dagger hung there for a second, and it spun around in a circle. The dagger flew over Jewel, who swatted to keep it away, and a burst of yellow-green limelight encircled the witch.
Screaming, as she fizzled away, Jewel collapsed. In an instance, she was gone, Lucent Knight too was gone, and Zentar had drifted silently down the hall.

                Dear Sailor Scouts,
This seems important, hold on to it.
                                                Lucent Knight.
“What does it mean, Amy?” Serena asked, as they all stared at the odd shard of glass, and the note.
“Apparently, your friend Lucent Knight wants us to hold onto this, it could be dangerous.” Luna remarked, as she scratched at her ear.
Artemis nodded, and looked to Mina. “I’ll keep it!”  The blonde girl said. All eyes turned to Mina, asking the same question, ‘Why?’ “Just hand it over to Sailor V! I won’t let anyone touch it.”
Raye smiled, and spoke. “I’ll do a reading on it later, maybe I can come up with more?”
“Good thinking.” Artemis said. “I mean, it’s not like you ever do anything else.”
“Artemis! That’s a very ungentlemanly thing to say.” Mina scolded.
“I’m just saying, that if all we can do is a reading on it, we won’t get anywhere.”
Amy smiled, and pulled out her computer. In a flash, she was analyzing the odd piece of glass. In a matter of seconds though all sorts of odd figures began appearing on her computer screen. Judging by the face she made, no one wanted to ask if she had gotten what she was looking for. Finally, she smiled again. “I’ve seen these ruins somewhere before. I’ll just need to go look them up.”
“Where have you seen them before?” Raye asked, sensing something was amiss.
“At that old, abandoned house Trevor set up shop. I think I’ll be able to translate some of this if I go there.”
As the conversation inevitably moved closer and closer to things other then the piece that they held, such as boys, movies, and a series of other things they discussed, Lita burst through the door. She was obviously tired, and she was also red and wild with excitement. “Everyone, you wouldn’t believe my luck! I was picked for the new show…”

* * *

“Rose, you failed to get me that piece, I need all twelve of them.” Lady Sillan said. “And worst of all, Jewel was destroyed in the process.” The three knights at their table exchanged a worried glance. The rest of the succubus also paused in their conversations, because this was new.  Only Rochelle had ever been a real causality, but now another of theirs had been lost? And on top of that, piece number seven had gone missing as well.
“I should have known better then trust you Rose. Perhaps it was only luck those girls did not destroy you. No matter, you are not disposable, yet.”
“Thank you, my queen.” Rose said, as she took her seat near the now empty one.
“On to business!” Sillan announced, as the rock appeared in her hand. “We have just found where piece number ‘2’ is. It has fallen into a small building; the humans call a studio.
