L-R: "Fu" in '63; The Farrall Family today: Colleen, John, Tammy and Carol

John A. Farrall (CPL John Farrall, a.k.a. Fu')

(excerpted from an e-mail note to CT2/Prof. Jan Walls).... I got out, went to University of Arizona in '66 and obtained my BA (Honors Program), then an MA in '69 in Oriental Studies. Married a Chinese-American (Carol - Huang Myau-Jwan or - in Taishan Wong Moi-gun) who doesn't speak a word of Chinese. I could write a book about her family - Union Pacific Railroad, eldest daughter immigrated under alias name. I went to work for CIA in Sep. '69 and (surprise) almost immediately went overseas to Okinawa - a small spy base called Camp Chinen, which was exposed in the Pentagon Papers, so we had to leave. Went to Frankfurt, Germany for three years, had two daughters, returned to Washington in '75 and went overseas again to Japan in '78 and returned in '81. During that time I visited China and had a chance to see Xian and the warriors. What really was fun was asking my Chinese guide to take me to the birthplace of the Chinese Communist Party. After Okinawa, I returned to Headquarters for a stint, then returned overseas to Frankfurt in '87 and returned in '90. I retired from CIA in '96 and have been spending my time trying to find people like you!!!Alternatively, I am am seeking new employment to help pay for the college loans I have obtained for my daughters. After many years of overseas travel, Carol slowly obtained her BA from Univ of Maryland, then entered a program at American University in Computer Configuration Management. I haven't the foggiest idea what all that means (Carol does), but she now works for EDS corporation here in DC. God only knows where I will end up. I have two daughters are still in college. #1 daughter (Tammy) .... an A+ in interior design - graduates this fall. Daughter #2 (Coleen) went for the jugular and enrolled at Univ of Mass - two BA degrees in Environmental Science and Biology. (Not a dual major - 2 degrees). For her extra money she drives LARGE city buses. Now I am surfing the net and looking for a job that will hopefully get me traveling to Asia. I LOVE travel and would give anything to on the road again. That's it for now. Take and talk with you later. (Then you can tell me how to translate all those internet (&(^&(&(&( into real Chinese characters, so that I can read them).

Cheers,

FU
