Peorth, who is she? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- > >Peorth: Is she Belldandy's aunt or what? She's rumored to be but if > >you look at her, she's looks about the same age as Belldandy or Urd. I > >think that she would be more older to be an aunt. > > No she is not. She might have been... I guess the decided not to make her one. (That was one of the original plans... > I think it started as a joke in Geir's homepage a long time ago and > took a life of its own. For those of you who pays very vvery very close attention to Afternoon's AMG, it said several times about "what's comming up next episode" that Bell-chan's aunt will come, or someone that competes with Urd.... Well, eventually, it was decided that they wil put a character Peorth there. > Peorth is a former classmate of Belldandy, working for a "rival" > agency. Her class and qualification are > same as Belldandy's and she has never "failed" before she took on K1's case. > So the rivalry Peorth harbored toward Belldandy, through their time at the > goddess training school and through their works in different agencies, > flares anew when Peorth arrives at K1's house. Actually, it was a completely one way rivary by peorth... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- > I know nothing about Peorth, but let me add a speculation: Megamis, > being > deities, are ageless. Probably, they stop aging as soon as they are > grown > up. So no megami can look older than Bell or Skuld. Just speculating. It's important to remember we're dealing with fictional characters here and thusly it's important not to ascribe traits from other mythological gods to our favorite goddesses without good cause. Simply being Megami doesn't imply that they do not age or only age to a certain point. Urd certainly looks older, to me, than Belldandy or Peorth and if we accept the OAV's portrayal of Belldandy as having once been a child then the most logical conclusion is that they do continue to age at a rate more or less consistent with human beings. For all we know, they could even die. I don't think it's been implicitly stated in the manga anywhere that they are immortal. It's really up to Fujishima and, so far, he's not said. :-)
