I've been skimming thru my manga and film comics to see what I could see about Belldandy eating... I have to admit the evidence is hard to read: I found a frame where she had an ice cream cone in her hand, and others where she had food in her hand or in front of her, but I have to admit that the more typical pose is for her to be serving food, with perhaps only a tea cup at her place. The evidence of Urd and Skuld indicates the megami _can_ eat, but it's consistent with the theory Bel might only eat occasionally, for social reasons. On the other hand, perhaps what we see is an artifact of her extreme motherly/giving behavior: she's so focused on serving food and being the perfect hostess, that she pays little attention to eating herself at the time. I know some mortal women who've acted like this at times. (Bel is in a position to keep it up much longer if she's surrounded by living things she can draw energy from.) On the third hand ;) Bel is the one who most often faints from energy drain.. maybe is would be _good_ for her to start experimenting with alternate mortal energy sources, say, chocolate covered cherries, or root beer floats, or something else similarly caloric but otherwise harmless. What might she be like on a sugar/caffine rush? The mind boggles at the thought of her being _more_ perky and cheerful at extra high speed ;) -- Albert Lunde Albert-Lunde@nwu.edu _____________________________________________________________________________ Have you noticed that the food that Urd and Skuld consumes primarily represent their characters? Urd drinking Sake and Skuld eating ice cream like there is no tomorrow seems to indicate that Fujishima-san is just refining their characters a little bit more. This would explain the Darjeeling tea bit. But to find something for her to consume at a gluttunous rate would kill her character. So Fujishima doesn't make her. And since Belldandy being a goddess doesn't really need food (alternate energy source is just sleeping) I don't think that she chooses to meddle with the messy task of eating. Then again, how does she know that she has cooked something right? It would be a really cheap dinner. She does drink Oolong Tea, though, so I guess i'd have to buy her some of that. - Drew
