In Singapore, Kit is a big name as she is a very popular singer here. Thus, naturally, there are many sites on Kit. So, I shan't dwell too much on her past achievements.
Kit is also among the cast of Jacky Cheung's musical <<雪 狼 湖>>. The people in Hong Kong love her. She is also praised for her calmness and fast-thinking on account that she reacted very quickly when she encountered some unpredicted 'mishaps' during the musical in Hong Kong. The musical is also staged here in Singapore and ended its run in late November. It is very successful and the response is overwhelming. We are very proud of her as not everyone can be selected to be in this musical.
Kit's first album was completed in 1993. The song <<伤 了 和 气>> caught my attention because I like this kind of music. Her voice was also special and it left a deep impression on me. The following year her 2nd album <<心 痛>> was out. The title track was so popular that everyone started singing this song at school (although they don't sound the same). In 1995, her 3rd album <<逼 得 太 紧>> was out in the stores. The title track is more in the style of alternative music, however most listeners still can appreciate the song. It also entered the Chinese Top 20 Countdown Charts. She was also recognised in Taiwan and the response was rather encouraging. In 1996, Kit came up with 2 albums <<伤 心>> & << 别 让 我 恨 你>> in the later part of the year. Although there were some issues concerning Kit's company contract, her fans still supported her all the same.
1998, Singapore celebrated its 33rd birthday. Kit Chan is selected to sing one of the newly written community songs ~ "Home". The song is composed by Dick Lee and the lyrics of the Chinese version is written by Muzi. It is a very nice and warm song. Kit Chan also performed during the NDP itself. She sang both the English and Chinese versions of "Home" with much enthusiasm and a pride that belonged to all Singaporeans. It was a very nice performance. Kit delivered the song very well and is undoubtedly a very good singer.
Kit Chan was chosen as the NYC Youth Ambassador 1999. With her wholesome image and popularity here, she is no doubt a suitable candidate for this task.
"somewhere in this world there is a light and it is getting stronger...
... somewhere there's a dream that's burning bright"
August 1999, Kit released her new album 《 炫 耀》. With her unique delivery of the songs, one can easily spot that the new songs are sung by none other than Kit Chan when played on the radio. Personally I think the lyrics of Xuan Yao is very nicely written. It shows the agony of someone who is obviously hurt but have to put up a brave front to face the world.
Heh... Year 2000 is here. Haha.. and the geocities server survived the possibility of destruction by the millenium bug. Whew I am relieved. Hmm... Enough of crap. So wat's the newest about Kit? After receiving a highly prized award for being an outstanding young female over in Hong Kong, she has also published her very own poetry book - 想 入 非 非. Whoa! She's really multi-talented. The Chinese translation of the poetry is done by Liang Wenfoo.
Kit has also released her compilation album 那 天 那 夜. I believe this will be a rewarding year to Kit. The songs found in this album are <<那 天 那 夜>>, <<轻 佻>>, << 心 痛>>, << 喜 欢 你>>, << 担 心>>, << 我 真 的 爱 错>>, << 拖鞋 >>, << 炫 耀>>, << 入 戏 太 深 >>, << 伤 了 和 气 >>, << 拔 河 >>, << 逼 的 太 紧>>, << 伤 心 >>, << 爱让我犯错 >>. If you haven't got her past albums, this is definitely the best album to add to your personal collection. After being in the music scene for so many years, Kit, no doubt, is a singer all Singaporeans are proud of.
Apart from singing, Kit was also involved in acting. She took on the role of a doctor in the Hong Kong serial "Miao Shou Ren Xin II".
Kit also released her new album "Lola" in 2000. Listening to the songs in the album, you can spot the mega-change in the style of the songs. Some of her fans might miss the old Kit. But well... I guess the change is welcomed as listeners should be able to appreciate different types of music. Personally I like "Zhong Yu Wang Ji Le Ni De Sheng Ri" penned by Kit herself. "Ni Ku" is another special song. It is really very different and I am quite shocked when I knew that song was sung by her when I first heard it. When I knew that it was Liang Wen Fu who penned that song, I was even more shocked. I also quite like the song "Ta Bu Shi He Ni" which is more similar to her past songs.
Kit has opened her very own boutique "Flowers in the Attic". Kit's new identity as a businesswoman had just added on to her multi roles as a singer, actor and writer.
And apart from all these, Kit also contributes her time and effort towards worthy community works. Recently, Kit went to Africa on a humanitarian trip with the World Vision.
Kit Chan held her very first local concert at The Singapore Indoor Stadium on the 9th of June 2001. Before the concert, there was also news of her costumes being misplaced. But I guessed everything was resolved in the end and Kit's concert was a success!
Kit was awarded the Outstanding Youth Award in the same year.
2002, Kit Chan was involved in Channel U's production 《胜券在握》acting with veteran actors like Qin Han, Mi Xue. Personally, I like that serial alot. There's excitement, wit and humour. Kit's acting is truely professional. I like the character "Golden" she acted.
