Radofin History

Radofin were a Hong Kong manufacturer of low-cost audio sets, calculators and other consumer electronics. Their products are sold under various brand names. They were one of the companies to produce an Atari Pong clone. When Atari went on to produce a home video game system, they did the same thing (in 1978). These machines were sold under various names, including Audiosonic, Radofin, Acetronic, Priztronic, Fountain and Hanimex. These game consoles have all different looks, but the game cartridges can be exchanged. Radofin would later go on to build the Aquarius computer, sold the rights to Mattel in 1983 and bought them back again (around 1984) in order to build the Aquarius II, which never made it to the market.

My Hardware

Audiosonic Tele-Sports III Programmable Video System

This machine was released in 1978 and produced in Hong Hong by Radofin. It has a base unit, two joysticks and uses its own game cartridges. The manual is in English and German, and comes with 1 game (Superstar). For reasons unknown, my Audiosonic has two right joysticks and no left one. The graphics and sounds are very simplistic, hardly better than Pong. One of its nicer features is a switch to select the background colour (red, green or cyan).
