Marcel's Atari 2600 / 7800 page

This page was updated 18 November 2001.

What is it all about ?

The Atari 2600 was THE game computer of the early 1980's. It is probably the most popular game console of all time.
When compared to recent games with 3D graphics and 16-bit sounds, the games look very dated. But playing these games still offers a lot of fun.

On this page I keep track of my collection of Atari hardware and game cartridges.
The items listed on this page are NOT for sale. If you have any questions, or have something for offer, email me:

Atari History

My Hardware

All consoles are PAL systems.

Atari VCS 'Woodgrain 6' console (VCS CX2600)

This is the standard VCS console with a wood-like front, black top, six metal switches at the front and one on the bottom. This one was made in Hong Kong.

Atari VCS 'Woodgrain 4' console (VCS 2600A)

This a similar VCS console with only four metal switches at the front and three more at the back. It's slightly lighter than the older one. This one was made in Ireland.

Atari 2600 'Darth Vader' console (VCS 2600A)

Completely black version of the woodgrain 4, resembled Darth Vader's helmet. The console is now called 2600 instead of VCS. This one was also made in Ireland.

Atari 2600 Junior console (2600 Jr.)

This one is of a later date and is black and silver plastic, with 4 plastic switches on top. It's about half the size and weight of the older types. It resembles the Atari 7800. This one was made in China.

Atari 7800 console (CX7800)

Looks like new but I've not been able to get it to work.

If you don't have a 2600 yourself, you can still run the games on your PC by using an emulator. With the Pentium power, a sound card and a joystick, you can easily emulate the 2600 and all the games.
