The
History of
Realm
Before Realm was, it was said that there was nothing but blackness, but
out of the nothingness something was born, a sapling, a tiny tree in the
void.
It grew, drawing on the forces of creation as it's sustenance, and as it
grew in size and power it also grew in intelligence! It was sentient,
it was also very lonely.
The tree, which
now referred to itself as 'The Tree Of Mana', stretched it's roots to the
farthest reaches of the void and found debris, digging in it's roots the
tree enriched the soil and drew back the debris and soon a planet was formed.
But that was merely the beginning.
From it's roots spewed forth water, creating the first oceans of Realm,
this is why, so people say, that all the water on Realm, ocean and river
alike, is fresh and sweet tasting unlike the other planets and their salt
water oceans.
Then she, for the tree decided that it was female since it was the mother
of this planet, fertilized the ground and the air with nutrients and most
importantly. . .Magick!
From the Magick she bore a son, and his name was Ariell of the White Flame.
Upon his skin were
strange sigla that gave him great Magickal power, he proclaimed himself
a Mana-Jin since he was born from the Mana Tree.
But the world was a large place and he too grew lonely, and so cutting
his left wrist he bled his life blood and from it sprang five children:
Draxar,
who was short and stout with a black beard that ran from his chin to his
feet.
Peyitin,
whose beauty struck all dumb.
Yaksha,
Peyitin's twin brother. His cunning eye's made all those around
him become filled with distrust and unease.
Drakkunn,
who was Ariell's most beloved son.
And finally Alanis,
the last born and even more beautiful then Peyitin.
At first they were content to play and romp on the world the tree had created
and they're day were filled with serendipity, but soon they too grew bored
and lonely save for Drakkunn who filled his days with devoted service to
his father Ariell.
Yaksha called a
secret meeting and did not invite Drakkunn, he cried in wheedling tones
that it was not fair that only Ariell had the right to create, he said
they should defeat their father and each drink his blood, this way they
be able to create as well and would never be lonely again.
They all drew back,
horrified at the notion of killing their father and walked away from Yaksha,
but he laughed gleefully for he had already planted the seed's of jealousy
into their hearts.
And so the golden
age ended, they fell upon their father and over powered him, each drunk
from the veins that had birthed them gaining a bit of his divine essence,
Draxar was the first to slit his wrist and from it poured the Dwarves,
powerful and loyal but short and stout like him and very quick to anger,
Peyitin was next, and from her blood came the first Elves, beautiful like
her but also conceited, From Yaksha also came Elves, and Finally came Alanis,
when she slit her wrist all looked upon her children and laughed.
For they were weak
and lived only moments compared to their progeny, they were the humans,
and she wept and cried because they soon fell upon each other in battle.
When Drakkunn saw
this he was disgusted, he went to his dying father and tried to ease his
pain, Ariell grasped his hand and said: "Drink of mine life, beloved
son, I command thee!
Yee must also beget
a race! But I give unto them mine blessing, they shall bare no faults,
they will watch over the other races and protect them from themselves!
" And with that twilight fell on Ariell and Drakkunn drank his fathers
blood, his skin glowed with power, the power of the sigla.
He slit his wrist
and from it sprang forth a race of people so great, they had the beauty
and longevity of the Elves, the Anger of the Dwarves, the compassion of
the Humans, and the wisdom of their father within their veins.
They were the Ryu-Jin,
the Dragon people. They rallied those of the lesser races that had
good in their hearts and built great nations and Drakkunn in his great
Anger called to his brothers and sisters and said he had forgiven them,
and would help them as best a he could to protect and control their children.
Yaksha left in a
huff stating "Yee would'st spit upon mine progeny!
Yee sayest thou
hast beget a race of perfect beings! Pah! I forsake thee!
I have no brother! " but the others stayed. To Peyitin he said:
"Thine progeny art much like thou, they art much absorbed in the reflections
of glass and water so much as to ignore the world about them.
And so I shall open
their eye's and they shall behold the beauty of the lands and the forest
and they will tend them and protect them." And it was so. To
Draxar he said: "Thine progeny are gifted with the will to fight
but not the will to love. I bestow upon them the ability to create
and they shall love life."
And it was so.
And to his weeping sister Alanis he said: "Yee have created something
grand, for the flame that burns the fastest burns the brightest.
Yee have given them great heart, but alas they possess no inkling of wisdom.
And I shall awaken their hearts to the magick."
And it was so, the
humans he chose became humanities shepherds, they were the first Magi,
and though the other races learned the Magick they could never master it
so well as the humans could. Alanis was happy for a while, but soon
she became jealous because since humans hearts were open they were free
to choose who to worship, many worshipped her but not all and this, above
all things, made her cross with Drakkunn.
She called a council
of all the other Gods save for Drakkunn. She tried to turn them against
him by saying that his race is perfect while all theirs have faults, they
all refused to listen except for Yaksha whom had refused Drakkunn's help.
He said that the
only way to show Drakkunn his place was to curse his people and make the
other races hate them. She did just that and took it a step further,
she cursed the females of the Dragon Tribe to wear their wings in human
skin and the males to bear the mark of a Dragon Rampant on their foreheads,
she cursed the Dragons with a great anger called the Frenzy.
Then she created
a race of beings called Dragoons for the specific purpose of destroying
the Dragons, at first they didn't fight back, they didn't want the lesser
races to get hurt. But when their kin started to die they grew so
enraged even Drakkunn couldn't stop them!
The battle that
ensued almost destroyed the planet.
Half of it became
a huge desert known as Kakara, The grave of the Dragons.
The Ryu-Jin went
into hiding and created two great cities, Dragonair and Dologany.
Today the other
races distrust and hate the Dragons, they believe that they tried to destroy
the world, or so the priest's of Alanis claim.
The Great Sundering
For the next millennia peace reigned, culture grew and civilized empires
spread across the land.
Somewhere in the
universe a new people had appeared, the Sherani, a few tribes had come
to Realm to escape the tyranny of the Dark Shamans on their home planet,
they took up residence in the swamps and, through a few strange intermarriages
with humans, found that Sherani blood and human blood didn't mix, the children
that came from these marriages looked human, but had the tails and ears
of a tiger.
Either races were
filled with disgust at the sight of these abominations and refused to be
responsible for them.
The children ran
away and lived in the deepest parts of the forest's, were even the Elves
were loath to venture, and they called themselves the Fullen, and discovered
that by mating with tigers they could keep their blood strong, they grew
the ability to become huge Were tigers.
Elsewhere in the Pure Land, the large island where the Mana tree resides,
a young Mana-Jin girl named Mana and a Sherani former Dark Shaman called
Sekken had fallen in love.
The child that they
had was half Sherani and Half Mana-Jin, his name was Ganen.
Soon after that
Sekken went mad and left Realm leaving Ganen with his mother Mana, she
wept for days.
Many years later Mana fell in love with the prince of the Ryu-Jin named
Ryu, they had a child. His name was Anubis. He and Ganen got
along well together.
One day though A
demon lord named Shade appeared before Anubis, he told him that Ganen was
liked more because he was first born, at first Anubis refused to listen
but soon he was seduced by Shade.
When none one was
around Anubis attacked young Ganen, the fight was brief, Ganen was caught
by surprise. Ryu came just in time to break up the fight before it
became fatal for Ganen. Anubis fled and Ganen left for Sheran-Sei,
his fathers home planet.
Mana died of grief but her soul joined with the Mana tree and she gave birth to many children:
Sage, a young brash man with long golden locks and a refusal to believe in anything he didn't see.
Daos, a sickly albino, he used many forms of Herbs to strengthen his weak blood.
Kanar, a wild child who was so attuned with the forest and it inhabitants that he could take the form of a wolf.
Daxan, small of stature but big of heart, his strength could shake continents and lift mountains.
The twins Aryan and
Lina;
Aryan, a young man
wise beyond his years, and also full of hatred for everything, the only
person he ever cared for was his little brother Ukyo.
Lina, beautiful and conceited, Lina and her Brother never got along.
Shadda, a young man very attuned with water, he had the misfortune to fall into a Nas-ni-chuan spring and was cursed to turn into a girl when he gets excited.
Rowan, fast and hard to understand since his attunement with the Zephyr's in the air caused him to do everything super fast, even speech.
Ukyo, the youngest, he was born with glowing sigla on his skin, Ryu, his father, took this as a sign from Drakkunn that this boy was meant for something special. He was also the only one of the Mana-Jin to inherit Ryu-Jin powers.
They lived together in the pure land happily, and everyone dotted on Ukyo.
Until Ukyo reached
the age of ten.
Ryu had always thought
there was a great evil abroad in the world, and infact there was.
A young Dark Elf
named Dar'Kai had excelled in the ranks of Drow priesthood.
Then one night Yaksha
appeared to him in a dream, offering him power beyond belief. Of
course Dar'Kai accepted and he soon became one of the most powerful beings
in all of Realm.
One of his first commands was that all who worship Drakkunn be wiped out.
Ryu took light of
this and sought out the priest, he found him, in his own home!
Dar'kai had defeated
all the other Mana-Jin and was poised to kill Ukyo, Ryu released his power
and a great battle ensued!
Finally Ryu had
driven Dar'Kai away but not before taking a fatal wound himself, he died.
Ukyo's sadness turned
to rage and he released his frightening power.
Realm was torn asunder into two smaller planets, Middle Earth and
Earth, on Middle earth all the other races flourished, on earth the Humans
were left with nothing and fell once again to fighting.
Not much is known
during this period.
Somehow Realm reformed itself, but at a drastic cost, the races that had
been separated for so long were now together again. They waged great
wars, but the Mana-Jin returned as well, and Ukyo met his half brother
Ganen, he also met Anubis.
A long battle was
fought, and eventually Ukyo drove away the Shade spirit that had possessed
his brother, feeling ashamed Anubis threw himself in the line of fire to
save Ganen's youngest son Kageshin, he died redeeming himself.
After that peace was restored to Realm for a short time, then Dar'Kai returned.
He and Ukyo fought
viscously and in the end Ukyo discovered his Dragon powers and defeated
him.
But that wasn't
the end, Dar'Kai was working for a much more powerful being, Yaksha and
Alanis!
Ukyo managed to
seal the entrance to this world from her, at the cost of his life
This event was known
as the Cataclysm.
A little over three thousand years passed between the time when Realm was reborn and the cataclysm. Many things occurred and each culture knows bits and pieces of what happened. However the rest is lost in the dregs of time. Its is rumored that one man, a Sherani and leader among his people named Kageshin knows what truly happened since he was alive for most of it and is a distant relative of Ukyo.
Welcome to Realm. . .
Enjoy your stay.
And so I guide yee once more to where it all begins and ends.
