HC shepherds get their perks too Catherine receives new pool cue from Wycliffe HC

Henry's apartment—To Catherine's utter shock and delight, the members of Wycliffe House Church presented her with a pool cue and case last Friday "as a token of our [Wycliffe HC's] appreciation for everything she does for us."      As Sean Kim began the "special announcement" at the end of the house church meeting, Catherine reacted first with confusion, then understanding, and finally with excitement as it dawned upon her that the pool cue Sean was holding was not his own, but it was meant for her and her alone.      "I couldn't believe it!" she exclaimed at the post-house church interview. "I mean, I totally wasn't expecting anything from my house church. I just do what I do because I love them and care about their spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being."      When asked if she had any idea that they had been planning this gift for over a month, Catherine replied, "I was totally oblivious. I mean, I think people always have fun planning surprises for me because I never pick up on the clues. In retrospect though, I should have seen it coming. Sean kept asking me when I was going to get my own pool cue, and I always told him, 'you can just give me yours when you get a better one.' But now I see that he, and I think everyone else, was really enjoying the fact that I had no idea they were planning such a nice surprise."      The pool cue comes in two sections, the shaft and the butt. The shaft is a light tan, and perfectly smooth to the touch, very unlike the cues that come in-house at Lovett College. The forearm and sleeve shine with a beautiful dark cherry-colored stain, and the Irish linen wrap facilitates a firm, yet comfortable, grip. And to top it all off, Wycliffe house church even made sure to buy a "ghetto" black leather case so that Catherine can carry her new toy everywhere she goes.      After the house church meeting, Wycliffe house church went to shoot pool at Cornbread's on Westheimer and Beltway 8. Perhaps because of the excitement of playing with her very own pool cue, or maybe because of the thrill of knowing that her house church appreciates her shepherding ministry, Friday night, Catherine played the best pool she had ever played in her whole entire life. She even gained the respect of reigning pool sharks Richard Namkoong and Robert Mun after becoming "Nine Ball Queen" for three consecutive games, until she was finally taken down by Eric Lindsay.      Although shooting pool has always been and will continue to be one of Wycliffe house church's favorite pastimes, for HC Shepherd Catherine Lee, it will mean something else as well.      "From now on, every time I shoot pool, I will think of my original Wycliffe house church. You guys are the best! I will always have a special place in my heart for each of you. I love you guys!!!"
