Prologue 2: The Camel Story

I really don't know how it all began...I remember the Great Druidess Kaitlin announced to the list one day that she was turning fifteen. This post came some time after the Moogle War, in which Mog had turned psycho. (That's the FF3 Mog...as far as I know, there is no one with the handle "Mog" on the list.) With her popularity, you can imagine the response THAT evoked. One of them was another crazy story by Eric, which I seriously am considering putting up on this page, but oh well, that must wait for now. ^_^
Anyway, I think it was Edgar who wrote another little story in which Kaitlin enters her room and finds fifty camels dancing around, right in the middle of doing a striptease. Of course, being the innocent young woman she is, and being UTTERLY caught by surprise, she ran out of the room to avoid the horror of seeing more that what perhaps should be seen...
The next mention of camels that I remember was on another birthday. General Alan announced HIS birthday, and in his post he clearly stated that he was looking around suspiciously for camels. Of course, yours truly, wanting to kill a good thing, wrote a little story to celebrate. I had Mog suspend a camel to the ceiling, which dropped on Alan's head as he walked into the room. It made a perfect landing, tooted a horn, then sang "Happy Birthday!!" Less dramatic than Kaitlin's birthday, but a good one nevertheless. ^_^
Edgar brought up camels once again in response to a story I wrote. When the FFML first moved to Coollist, we were so thrilled to have a daily list that I went berserk for the first time (up until now my posts had always been sane and on-topic) and started doing REALLY crazy things: chasing Eric, pretending I was Queen Zeal, spiking the punch, summoning Reptites, things like that. Then Edgar continued the story and said, "Hmm...right about now is where the dancing camels come in..."
It would have ended there if I hadn't continued the tale and actually brought in the camels! Then Edgar took up the writing and named his chapter, "Camels in White Satin." If you remember FF2, the dancer in Mysidia, that's the kind of effect his camels had on the FFML. We all grew sleepy and incoherent watching these huge camels float around semi-gracefully, flapping long white satin dresses behind them....
And then, perhaps the craziest camel incident of all, thanks to yours truly. ^_^ Edgar announced he was unsubscribing, and he planned a little IRC get-together on #ffml on DALnet (yee-ha! We have our own channel!) as his going-away party. I, my sanity finally having snapped when Coollist went up, warned people that if I were to attend, one word: CAMELS. Edgar dreaded that simple word, but he admitted he couldn't do anything about it, seeing as he WAS the one who started it. ^_^
So I went on IRC, and to my joy, about 10 people were already on. Of course, I logged on as "Schala," but after some time I began glowing purple and I suddenly morphed into" Camel2". ("Camel" had already been taken, can you believe that?!?) I started chasing Edgar around, frowning at Edgar, hitting Edgar, etc. etc. But I didn't limit myself to Edgar; I had a fine time chasing Pokey, John, Kaitlin, Rydia, and whoever else all over the room. And that was just the FIRST day, hehe. *evil grin* The second day, I morphed again and chased Edgar around, but unfortunately for me, Rydia chose that time to summon Bahamut and protect Edgar. So I was forced to start chasing everyone else until Bahamut left. ^_^ And of course, there were many other actions that slip my mind...I remember Edgar suddenly saddling me like a bronco, John making like a matador and waving a red cloth in front of me, Eric opening a bar and offering me drinks....oh well, hehe. ^_^
And that's the camel story, as far as I can remember. For some reason it became tradition for us to send camels on a person's birthday. I guess that's why not too many people are telling us when their birthdays are anymore, hehe. ^_^
