Koshiki no Kata (Ancient Forms)

Also known as the Kito-ryu no Kata, the twenty-one techniques in this kata were originally the Kito School's forms of throwing. They were revised and incorporated into Kodokan Judo by Jigoro Kano(the founder of judo). The techniques are of a high order and highly refined, and their practice brings insight into judo theory. The kata has two parts.

Omote Ura
Tai Uchikudaki Mi-kudaki
Yume-nu-uchi Tani-otoshi Kuruma-gaeshi
Ryokuhi Kuruma-daore Mizu-iri
Mizu-guruma Shikoro-dori Ryusetsu
Mizu-nagare Shikoro-gaeshi Sakotoshi
Hikiotoshi Yudachi Yukiore
Ko-daore Taki-otoshi Iwa-nami
