April 25, 1999

David had a successful birthday, something we didn't expect. He was having a really hard time the two days leading up to it, and we almost postponed his party. But he and his brothers and friends had a great time. He got many toys that he can share with anybody who comes over to play.

Both LeeAnn and Mike forgot it was their anniversary today. This happened once before, and we'll say now what was said then: if either one of us forgets, it's definitely best that we both forget! We'll give it another shot next week.

Misha Marie's birth was a study in perfect timing. LeeAnn was scheduled to be induced the morning of April 7, so LeeAnn's mom flew in the evening of April 6. At around 11:30 p.m., just as LeeAnn and Mike were dropping off to sleep, the contractions started. They started at 3 minutes apart and stayed that way, although the contractions just kept getting stronger and stronger. We drove to the hospital at 1:30 a.m. or so, then Misha was born at 3:21, 8 lbs. 5 oz., 20.5" long. The cord was wrapped around her neck, so she was very purple when she first arrived, but she had good color after a short while. It happened so quickly, there was no time for anesthetic or painkiller, so it was a very painful experience for LeeAnn. But LeeAnn's amazingly strong, and she pulled through.

Misha's is very good-natured and calm, except when she's hungry. She's so peaceful, and her brothers love taking turns holding her. Both of her grandmas flew into town to help out.

We all went to church today, and even with Grandma Sawyer's help, we can tell it'll be an adventure with four to keep track of.

Grandma Sawyer flew back this afternoon. We'll miss her, as we miss all our family. Someday we'll come back, we just don't know when that'll be.
