"MORTAL ENEMIES" Diorama By: Banjo |
|
|
|
This is a diorama I made for a painting contest that is to be held at our GW on Sunday (August something or other). I REALLY want to win this thing, so I busted my ass and worked hard on this one, and I think it paid off. Take a look, I'll narrate ;) |

Here's the base. It's a 9"x9" piece of wood, with holes boared out for slots for, well, you'll see. Anyways, I used rocks from my mom's flowerbed next to the house (eek!), and some gravel from the side of the road, toss in a cut up section of styrafoam from a Dreadnought box PVCed with gravel and then painted, and you've got a rubbled town. I drybrushed eveything Fortress Grey and did the toothbrush method of splattering for the muddy ground.
And here comes the lazy Catachan (no surprise there... >) You'll see what I mean by this. I used the metal bit blister than came with the Leman Russ Exterminator for this (since I hate Catachans and will never use them).
The Catachan Again. |

Uh oh, who's this? >)
I found something out: Watered down paints and a a few coats mixed with a bit of time work WONDERS. I used watered down Fortress Grey on the cloak quickly re-drybrushed with watered down Chaos Black. I used about four to five coats of REALLY watered down Blood Red on the power claw followed up by dry-brushed on watered down Boltgun Metal. On the breat plate I used watered down Mithril Silver, and used Brazen Brass under Burnished Gold for the symbol and sword handle. On his face I used watered down Dark Flesh drybrushed with Rotting Flesh to give him that "old man" feel.
Same as above. Lookey! I even got his Purity Seal!
My brother commented that he was trying to punch out the screen, or the person looking at him. |

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! The beast is back! This one was a nifty little bugger, as it was my FIRST ORK ever PAINTED. I used lots of drybrushed metals (all watered down), such as Boltgun, Beaten Copper, and Brazen Brass. For the ork skin I used Dark Angels Green as an undercoat, followed up with Snot Green, and then gently highlighted with Goblin Green.
Look! I got the wires too!
And from the back...
A bit closer up.
"WAAAAAAAAAAGH! ME GUNNA CRUSH DEM HUMIES GOO' AN' MAKE DAT YAH-RIK PAY!" |
