Woodmen of Mirkwood


The Woodmen are a Northman people who reside within the borders of Mirkwood, once Greenwood the Great. They are hunters and gatherers, living in or about the great trees. Like all Northmen, the Woodmen are tall, with fair eyes and brown hair.

A Northman language, and so distantly related to Taliska, Kuduk and Rohirric, Nahaiduk is the speech the Woodmen use amongst themselves. For talking to outsiders, they generally learn a little Westron or Sindarin.

  • Outfitting Woodmen Characters
    Woodmen begin with two weapons, two sets of clothing, a set of rigid leather armour, and pelts worth 20 silver pieces.
    Clothing
    Smock of beige or white wool; short tunic of buff, moss green, or grey wool, ornamented with contrasting crewelwork across the shoulders, chest, and lower hem; wollen leggings and full trousers gathered at the knee; short woolen coat in subdued colours; long woolen cloak with hood; fur hat; fur boots.
    Weapons
    Club, dagger, handaxe, longbow, quarterstaff, shortsword, sling.
    Armour
    None generally, but light leather armours are worn in times of war.
