Creatures of Middle-Earth in the Third Age of the Sun

Cave Trolls

Created by Morgoth during the First Age, in immitation of the Ents, Trolls were formed from stone, crude but useful parodies of the proud Tree-Wardens. The Wild Trolls are descended from those original Trolls, living in places like the Trollshaws still.

Cave Trolls are the most common, and most sociable, of Wild Trolls, living in small family groups in a large cave. They live off what meat they can hunt; Men, Orcs, Dwarves. When no other meat can be found, they will eat their weaker relatives.

Trolls despise the light of the Sun, and prefer to sleep during the hours of daylight. However, they can still see well enough to engage in combat if the need is there, so lomg as they can avoid direct sunlight, which will invariably revert them to the stone from which they were created. Under starlight they can see as well as a man during the day. In near darkness they can still see well out to 50'; in total darkness, they can still see out to 10'.
