...Isn't this annoying?.....

This page is about my toy, my 1998 Eagle Talon TSi AWD.

DSM
This is a really sweet car, a dream to drive and quick -- yeah, there's faster and all, but I like it just fine. It's also the most technical car I've ever driven, much less owned. It's a turbocharged all-wheel drive 2.0 litre 4cyl. So far, it's not as fast as most, but it's OK. I make it a point to race as I drive -- if it's in my car on the way to the track, it'll ride down the track, providing the tech inspectiors agree. Unless it's something like a cooler or some such. I run with my tools and spare in place, unless one of the guys needs them. I'll be adding in more pics eventually, but haven't gotten around to it yet. There are some up on GatewayDSM's "meetings" page.

MODS

So far, I haven't done that much - work is progressing apace though! My goal, if possible, was to hit 13.6 on the stock T-25 turbo.. after making some mistakes and doing some homework, I abandoned that goal. Mods to date are as follows:

*NGK BPR6ES spark plugs, running one range colder than stock.
*K&N FIPK air filter assembly from the 3000GT, stock airbox removed.
*Dejon Tool steel intake.
*Speed Design upper intercooler pipe, fitted with a GReddy Type S blowoff valve.
*Joe P. manual boost controller
*TOS 30-0-30 vac/boost gauge and dual probe charge-air temp gauge (one temp sensor before the intercooler, one after - not connected until I upgrade the intercooler)
*Autometer GaugeWorks 3 cup a-pillar replacement unit
Dawes Devices DSM A/F gauge, custom calibrated with 5 LED's measuring 0.8 to 1.0 volts.
*Ported 2G exhaust manifold
*Custom 3" exhaust, turbo back, consisting of an Alamo Motorsports O2 sensor housing (HUGE!!), 3" downpipe, 3" hi-flo cat, 3" Warlock bypass muffler, 4" in-pipe resonator, 4" resonated chrome tip (it's the only thing that fit and still had sound baffles)
*Denso hi-pressure fuel pump (bad idea..)
*Custom fuel delivery system, consisting of 510CC injectors, a ported stubby fuel rail (donor unknown - maybe a Colt or Galant) and an SX fuel pressure regulator, tied together with -6AN braided fuel lines from the filter to the rail and from the rail to the regulator, and -4AN line from the regulator back to the stock return hardline.
*Speed Design 4-spider center differential
*Front and rear strut tower braces
*Neuspeed firewall strut tower brace (for a total af 2 up front)
*KYB AGX adjustable shocks on stock springs
*B&M Edge short throw shifter set at 35% with Prothane shifter bushings
*Pocketlogger ODB-II
*TRE MASC - very nice, if a little primitive. Measures O2 voltage, exhaust gas temps, injector duty cycles, and boost as well as air flow.
*Ported (and very tired, as I'm the 3rd owner at best) Mitsubishi 16G turbo with 34MM flapper conversion

As you can probably tell from reading that, it leaves a lot still undone. Here's a list of what's still on the board.

Finishing out the gauge cluster - pondering getting rid of the A-pillar gauge and going to a gauge bezel. Also working on a solution to mount the boost gauge and AFM on the steering column.
Still debating whether or not to remove the ABS.. it's not too good on autocross, but I kinda like it.
Next time the tranny drops (soon, I hope) I'll be putting in new motor mounts with Prothane inserts (front and rear) and fresh untouched motormounts on the sides.
Also working on a low-cost water injection system. Not too hard to do, just having trouble getting the parts I want within the budget I set.
Also reworking my suspension - doing some math on spring rates and lift angles to increase the ability to turn in and control where the rear end points without dropping the car 2 inches or more.
Also waiting for the day I tear the rear suspension back down is a new RRE rear sway bar
