The group made their way to the large tower entrance to the underground Dwarven kingdom of High Keep. They were greeted by two Dwarf guards who helped them anchor their ship, and informed them that the Goblin was not allowed to enter. Garrat remained with the boat, and the other three began to descend. Following Fargot's directions, the three adventurers navigate numerous cavernous streets until they found Blackforge's shop. They walked in and were surprised to see their angry employer had beat them returning to the shop. Tuck smiled widely and began to point his token. The Dwarf lifted a huge battle axe and warned the mage not to try anything. The annoyed Dwarf reprimanded the group for using the tower entrance, and told them of an abandoned tunnel leading out of High Keep. Fargot showed the group the back room, pointed out the Forge and where the amulet was hanging. A'tar attempted to ask further details about the thieves in question, but Fargot remained elusive. Blackforge told the group that the three thieves would be in an abandoned house just to the southwest of the royal complex in the S'skra toen of Slaska. The three were curious about the truthfulness of the blacksmith's tale and decided to find the Dwarven archives. As they approached the multi-story building carved into the wall of the cave, two guards stopped them from entering. "You need a research pass to enter!" One bellowed. Taking her que, Kira flew in through a window and tailed a couple Jimnar examining various books. She noticed a card sitting under a large stack of books next to the two researchers, and hid under a chair. When she was sure the Jimnar's attention was focused elsewhere, she grabbed the card. To her surprise, the pile of books tumbled off the table and pinned her to the ground. One of the Jimnar looked at the fairy under volumes of ancient Dwarven text, and apologized for the accident. After the scholar removed the books, Kira quickly flew back to the entrance with the card which she slipped into Tuck's hand. Tuck confidently displayed the research pass, and marched into the library. After some searching, Tuck was confident that the amulet in question was not Dwarven at all. He was still unsure of the item's nature though. Frustrated from the lack of information about the pendant in question, Tuck looked around. He realized that three guards were now slowly circling the library, and heading towards him. Without hesitation, the mage bewildered the closest guard who froze with confusion. Tuck escaped with two other guards on his tail, and informed his companions that they ought to leave. A'tar sent Tuck and Kira to the abandoned tunnel, and ran back to the tower to retrieve their airship. When A'tar returned, the guards had captured Garrat, and told the pirate to forget about his Goblin friend. A'tar agreed with no disagreement, and manuvuered the ship to the abandonded tunnel's exit. The sailor dropped a rope and hoisted Tuck aboard while Kira flew up to the deck. Even though the three remaining adventurers doubted the Dwarf's story, they decided to head to Slaska and investigate. As they crossed over the Wastelands, they encountered a small group of Orc sky bandits. A'tar had Tuck steady the helm as the pirate ran up to the elemental cannon to see what shots were left. A'tar quickly grabbed a blue glowing sphere and dropped it into the cannon, lit the fuse on the large gun, and aimed for the Orc who was now circling their ship. After a loud boom, a huge gust of wind sent the Orc and his vessel hurling through the air away from the group. Tuck again started enchanting the end of a rope on deck. Kira held her position and waited for the Orcs to board. A'tar glanced at the one remaining cannonball and grinned. "Close your eyes!" he yelled to his comrades as he readied the weapon with a yellow glowing sphere. The cannon exploded, and when the party opened its eyes again, it was obvious the Orcs could not see what they were doing. Several fell off their small vessels, other flew sporadically in no apparent direction. A'tar quickly recovered the helm and pointed back towards the S'skra kingdom. |
