Adventure String:
All the characters, minus Matrice, were in the Belching Warthog pub in Middleton about noon.  No other customers were there.  A full armored Dwarf shoves the door open and orders eeryone their favorite drink.  He clumsly walks up to the bar and bellows about needing some volunteers to recover an amulet stolen from him, and guarntees ridiculous amounts of money for the deed.  Garrak agrees with little argument, and Kira is so interested in the riches she forgets to be wary.  A'tar begins questioning the Dwarf, and immediately suspects something is askew.

The Dwarf introduces himself as Fargot Blackforge and hands A'tar a stone that is transparent with streaks of orange inside.  The stone is fitted into a custom gold charm.  Fargot tells them that this is a replica of the real stone that is an heirloom of the royal family of High Keep.  Blackforge informs the group that he was hired by the King's oldest son Rilian to forge a battle axe and have the stone encased in the center of the blade.  Four days ago three S'skra merchants came into his shop, and wanted to inspect his forge before they agreed to purchase anything.  Fargot let the three back into his forge room and attended to another customer.  When he returned, the three and the amulet were gone.  The Dwarf also wanted to hire some adventurers unknown to the Dwarven kingdom so that the theft would remain a secret.  He tells the group he made another fake hoping it will decieve other Dwarves for a few days, but that the group can't say anything about their task to any other Dwarf.  He invites them to sneak into his shop and look for any clues, but to be careful.

After some rigorous deliberation, the party agrees.  Tuck decides to try some of his new spells, and bewilders the boisterous Dwarf as he is about to leave.  Their new employer is so overcome by the telepathic spell, that he runs into a stone pillar and knocks himself out.  Kira rushes to the Dwarf's side, and quickly pilfers all his gold and one huge plate of armor that was covering his right leg.  The four decide to hurry and find transportation before the bewildered Blackforge awakens.

In actuality, Blackforge is part a a larger conspiracy trying to cause turmoil within the empire so that the Dwarven and S'skra kingdoms can gain more power.  The Dwarven and S'skra royalty have no official knowledge of this conspiracy.  The amulet was a anti-magic amulet and and heirloom of the S'skra royal mothers.  The conspirators hoped that after the group got the amulet, they would be easily caught and because of the races of the adventurers, blamed on the empire.

When the group went to collect the amulet from their S'skra counterparts, they sent Matrice with the adventurers.  Matrice was a Imperial medic on a ship that the group destroyed early in the campaign.  The S'skra rescued her, and decided to assure that the empire would be blamed, an imperial employee would be a nice addition.

The Princian bishops caught word of the plot and decided the group needed to be secretly eliminated to protect the empire.  The inquisitor sent to kill the group was Maligart, a powerful necromancer.  While he watched the group, Maligart realized they did not realize what they were doing and spared them, but told then to return the amulet to the S'skra.

While visiting Blackforge's shop in High Keep, Garrat was arrested on obviously false charges.  The rest of the group left him, and he is still in High Keep's prison today.  To try and get some help, the group made the mistake of visiting Tuck's old mentor, Crazy Ivan.  Ivan had been exiled to a floating fortress prison, but remained linked to his old tower and could sense Tuck's return.  He made sure that the group found an old artifact of his, a golden pyramid with different colored tips.  Playing around with it, the group turned themselves into small animals, teleported themselves to the air fortress, and eventually changed themselves back.  Due to some cunning, and a lot of violence, the group commendered the fortress.

The group returned the amulet, acquired a navigator, and found a few magical artifacts.  none of them ever got the pay promised when they originally accepted the assignment, and most left the situation bitter and hurt.
