Name: Sub-Zero VOrigin: Earth Race: Human Affiliation: Lin Kuei Playable Debut: Mortal Kombat Unplayable Debut: N/A Story: In 1993 Sub-Zero, the fifth descendant of Sub-Zero the First, was sent to assassinate Shang Tsung by the Lin Kuei, his clan. The only way to do this was enter Mortal Kombat. But the man he had killed ten years ago, Scorpion, returned and killed him. When Sub-Zero the Fifth failed to return from his job and Shang Tsung was reported to still be alive, the Lin Kuei sent his younger brother, Sub-Zero the Sixth, to finish the job. Sub-Zero was forced to go into the Outworld to accomplish this, and that prompted the arrival of Scorpion, who's shadow always seemed to loom over the young warrior, but whenever he turned, no one would be there. Like his older brother, Sub-Zero had harnessed the element of cold, and could freeze people in their places and create puddles of ice, not to mention icy balls of volatile chemicals. Using those abilities, Sub-Zero fought his way to Shang Tsung, but was nearly killed. Smoke, Sub-Zero's longtime friend and fellow Lin Kuei, rescued Sub-Zero and dragged him through the portal. Upon arriving at Lin Kuei headquarters, their grandmasters were furious. The quickly learned of a new procedure their organization had recently adopted. Sub-Zero and Smoke had known the red-clad Sektor, and the yellow-clad warrior Cyrax. Now, they were machines. As it turned out, the Lin Kuei had begun to take their living soldiers and assimilate them into soulless automatons, and Sub-Zero and Smoke were next! Sub-Zero's skill was no match for them. After the invasion, all three survived because they had no souls to steal. Cyrax was captured and reprogrammed to destroy Shao Kahn by Sub-Zero. Sektor was attacked by Outworlders and fought back, ultimately going through the self-destruct sequence that destroyed a large part of the fortress. Smoke and Sub-Zero arrived to find the Lin Kuei disbanded. Sub-Zero donned his original mask after learning that Shinnok once again threatened the earth. The knowledge passed on by his older brother, Sub-Zero the Fifth, concerning the fallen god could be crucial to his downfall. |
