Black Holes of the Web

This first stop in our little tour of the best places to go when you want to chew up all of those free AOL hours that the thing in the mail is giving you is the Instanity test. A list of scores achieved by friends of mine can be found by request only. I myself about 83% crazy! Note: the new link is untested.

For all of you voilent, Barney-hating, must-destroy-anything-cute (yes, I'm one of you), I give you the one, the only Barney Fun Page

Another place to spen hours apon hours of otherwise productive time is the Applet Arcade. This site is filled with links to Java games from every corner of the net. You can also find the Applet Arcade at Shadowlands.

Online games, those multi-player lag-fests of doom, is quite possibly the biggest and best way to forget about the continuity of time. Due to crappy connections, I have always avoided these, but a friend got me somewhat interested in updates page to see why) myself, I hear that Go!Zilla is HIGHLY recommended (actually he said required) to download the initial 100+MB file (total time for Dan's download: FOUR DAYS!) Must update when I try it...

If you're not into playing games all day long, an interesting site is Message Mates. Here you can find all sorts of small programs that can be personalized to deliver any message you would like. So try these out, if not only to say "Happy Birthday" or just send some for humor reasons alone. Trust me, if you loose track of time here, you could be sending a dozen or more messages before you even know it!

Another web site the can swallow hours at a time is the slow moving Download.com. While I highly suggest not even visiting this site if your connection is slow or glitchy, the games, upgrades and other downloadable goodies can be well worth the time and lost patience. Many thing here can be found nowhere else on the web.

One of my first bookmarks was Cartoon Network, a graphics heavy site that is self explanitory. Oogle at the pretty colors and pictures that this site presents, or gather information about those wonderfull childhood cartoons that no other TV network in their right mind would ever show again. However you spend your time here, it will be en mass, and well spent. Another great cartoon site is Spumco, the people who brought us Ren and Stimpy and a small collection of oddball animated advertisements. Lots of options to explore, lots of time to waste!

I don't care how many people will say that Pokemon and/or the Final Fantasy series is the greatest thing to ever happen to video games, I am and will always be a member of the congregation in the 1st Church of Pac-Man. This site is just too much fun! There's also a link to where you can vote on the "Greatest Game of All Time!" Also very graphic heavy and everything is on the front page, making most browsers load the entire page before showing anything! I have never waited long enough for the counter and web ring info to be completed.

This one requires Shockwave, but is a great tribute to one of the best time wasting materials in history! Virtual bubble wrap never runs out, is always there when you need it, and is just as fun as the normal stuff. Well, not quite as fun as the real stuff, but as good as you can get without annoying the guy next to you.

On the idea of shockwave if you have the it NewGrounds is a huge site that is ALL about chewing up valuable time with shockwave movies, games, parodies and such. Highly recommended for humor of all ages (warnings given if something may be "inappropriate" (sp?) so give it a try, get a soda for the download times and enjoy!

You can visit this horridly useless page to find out exacly how old you are (if you know enough information). This one ranks up there in uselessness as the great collection of Hamsterdance and other dance pages that is mostly centered around Nuttysites.com! note: not very reliable..?

While not really needing mention, Search Enginges are among the most time consuming ways of (ab)using the web. Yahoo!, Lycos, Excite and Google are among the best.

Other fun, time consuming sites to be named at a later time! If you have any requests, feel free to drop me a line, my E-mail can be found at the front desk.
