Archers (and their dark equivelent Souless) are a rather useful unit. And also can be a rather annoying unit for that matter! So here are some hints and tricks for using them, and disposing of them. . . .
One of the things that make Myth2 so cool is seeing a good fire going. hitting "T" and clicking on the ground in front of an oncoming army is rather, uh, . . . .enjoyable, yes.
Picking up Flaming Arrows
You can pick up flaming arrows off of dead archers who never fired it. Look for a red-tipped arrow among their dead bodies.
Gimble in the Wabe is a perfect example of this: Attidude always helps. Having the height advantage is defenitely helpful. And Gimble in the Wabe is a good place to learn this -the hard way. He who gets to the top of the hill can rain arrows down apon the unfortunate; granted that the unfortunate don't gang up on him and charge all at once, becoming a 4v1 and a huge battle in the middle ;).
If you have archers shooting at archers, shooting a few flaming arrows into their center will do the trick. What it does is damage the archers, cost them precious time as they try to get out of the fire, and give you more time to shoot at them. It also forces their commander (the player) to make a critical decision that could very well cost him the game: run or fight. I've faced this decision enough times to learn (the hard way) what do to. In most cases it is best to back off if your archers are in this situation. But if your oppenent makes the wrong decision, he could very well lose all his archers which would be a major disadvantage. Another thing with archers vs. archers, is that its best to have all of your archers focus on one guy at a time. This isn't the case if you have 20 archers, though, and there you can have 10 firing at one guy and 10 firing at an other (you get the idea). Its better to drop their guys one at a time.
