Scotland vs. England - 6 Nations Cup (21/2/04):
I got my first live rugby-viewing experience in
February, when myself and flatmate Doug (a.k.a. The Ginger-haired
Arab) went to Edinburgh to watch the match between Scotland and
England. The match was held at 65,000 seat Murrayfield Stadium
and every seat was filled. Thanks to Doug's father and his
connections, we managed to not only get £50 tickets for the match,
we got free food/booze @ Ryan's (off Prince's Street), AND free taxi
to and from the match. All I can say is "Thanks Mr. Stewart!"
After arriving in Edinburgh, Doug and I wandered around the city
centre for an hour or so then to Ryan's for food and from there off
to the match. As for describing the match, I'll refer you to
the
official match report. Everyone figured Scotland would get
killed, which they did...but the score could have been worse.
Then again, if it weren't for shite defense on the part of Scotland
(missed tackles, etc.) the score would have been much closer.
All-in-all, regardless of the outcome, I can safely say that it was
an incredible experience!

Edinburgh Castle: We didn't
have time to check it out, but you know I'll end up there before
I leave this country! The cool thing about Edinburgh is
that wherever you are in the city, you can see the castle, as it
is on a hill in the middle of the city AND by law buildings
cannot be tall enough to obstruct the view. |

Walking to the stadium. We
could only get so far via cab due to the horrendous traffic, so
we walked the final few blocks. |
