My Birthday (17/1/04):
My 24th birthday fell on a saturday this year.
Overall, it was a pretty good day and evening. A postgrad
history conference was scheduled on that day and since a) I didn't
have a paper (nor would I have one ready anyways) for the conference
and b) I didn't want to spend my birthday listening to speeches, I
decided to spent much of the day napping. That evening I met
up with some of my fellow history nerds at Blackfriars pub, which is
about four blocks south of my flat in the Merchant City section of
Glasgow. After about an hour there, we got kicked out, as the
table that we were sitting at was being taken out so a band could
setup to play. From there we went on to The Thirteenth Note,
which is further south to eat. Add a few more visits to a club
or two and that was basically the night. Overall, a pretty
good evening..not as good as last year, but I doubt much will top
that.

Paula would leave us to take part in an amateur pole-dancing
competition....I kid you not. |

Me realizing that I have not one,
but two pints of beer in front of me....or did I impress
everyone with my Barney Gumbel impersonation? I can't
remember. |

Those wacky Brits and their
Heinz-inspired potato crisps! I know that there are
ketchup-flavored chips in the states, but not
corporate-sponsored like these! |
