Amaranth - The act of drinking the blood of other vampires.

Ancilla - A mature vampire.  A vampire that is not considered a neonate anymore, but also not yet an elder.

Antediluvian - One of the eldest Cainites, a member of the third generation.  A warlord of the Jyhad; the grandchilder of Caine.

Archon - Powerful Camarilla warriors charged with enforcing the Masquerade and the traditions. Servants of the Justicars.

Autarkis - A kindred who does not align with the Camarilla nor the Sabbat; they do not recognize the domain of a Prince.  Autarch

Beast, the - The drives & urges that push a vampire to become a monster; the push to frenzy.

Blood - That which makes a vampire a vampire; heritage.

Blood Bond (Oath) - A mystical rite binding the will of one kindred to another; the most potent bond that can exist between vampires.

Camarilla - Global Conclave of seven clans and free kindred.  Created to enforce the Masquerade.

Caine - The first childe of Adam and Eve. Thought to be the first vampire; Also Third Mortal according to The Book of Nod.

Cainite - A vampire; usually of great age

Caitiff - Clanless Kindred; frequently used in a derogatory fashion.

Childe - A recently made vampire; A vampire one has created. Plural: Childer

Consanguineous - Of the same lineage; younger

Coterie - Small group of vampires; usually formed on the basis of friendship; they protect and support one another.

Clan - A group of vampires descended from a particular Antediluvian; share certain traits.

Diablerie - The act of feeding upon other vampires; either need or perversion.

Domain - Fiefdom claimed by a vampire

Elder - Old vampire; more than 300 years old

Elysium - A place within a city, assigned by the Prince, where no kindred may harm another kindred in any way, so they can meet peacefully.

Embrace, the - The bite; the process of making a human into a vampire.

Frenzy - The state of berserk bloodlust; the Beast unleashed.

Gehenna - Kindred Armageddon, when the Antediluvians awaken to consume their young.

Generation - The number of steps between a vampire and Caine.

Ghoul - Servant of a vampire. Created through another mystical rite, which causes a human to not grow older, yet not become a full vampire.  The Blood Bond usually binds them to a vampire. They are regarded as secondary people in the kindred society; Also Thrall

Golconda - Kindred salvation, in which the vampire is freed of bloodlust and the urges of the beast.

Harpy - Herald for the Prince and Primogen.  Also the one who keeps track of the status within a domain and sees to it that status is respected.

Haven - A vampires sleeping place or home.

Inquisition - The war humans waged on vampires in the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth century.

Justicars - Camarilla Enforcers

Jyhad - The games the Antediluvians play.  The Jyhad finds expression in the Anarch War, oppression of neonates by the Elders, and the Sabbat-Camarilla War.

Keeper of the Elysium - The one who sees to it that the Masquerade is upheld, and that the laws of the Elysium are regarded.

Kindred - Vampires

Kine - Mortals

Masquerade - The effort to hide Kindred form the world of the mortals.

Methuselah - Elder who no longer lives among the Kindred; many belong to the Inconnu.

Neonate - Young Vampire; Also Fledgling, Whelp

Praxis - Right of Princes to rule; also the rules, laws and customs enforced by a particular Prince.

Primogen - Advisor to the Prince. Usually there is a council of Primogen in a city.  Each primogen speaks for a group of Kindred within the city, either a clan or a coterie.

Prince - Vampiric ruler of a city; male or female

Prince-Regent - Another name for Seneschal

Progeny - Collective term for the childer of one sire.

Sabbat - Global organization of two clans and free kindred that grew out of the Anarch Rebellion.

Seneschal - Acting prince when the prince himself is not present.

Sheriff - The "police" force of the Prince

Sire - Parent and creator of a vampire; used for both men and women.

Status - A measure of a Kindred's social standing in the society of Kindred.

Vitae - Blood
