Babbling Like a Brook

I have no focused rant topic for today, so it will be completely random at any given time. Usually that results in a good time for me, since I can unleash my mind and let it wander freely, which usually ends in neat chaining effect. It may not end up so fun for you poor souls that are bored enough to actually read this though, as my random ranting topics can be anything from "Painful rashes" to "What's that smell?"

Luckily for you, I will start off with the nice, less personally offensive topic of love. Not that I'm in love at the current moment or such, just in general. What is love, anyway? Sure, it's a wonderful feeling and all that jazz, but what exactly is it? Is it a mystical force that guides two distant souls together for a fated tryst or merely our mind's interpretation of our body's desire to procreate? Is it the deepest bond two people can share between each other or is it the need of our fragile psyches to cling onto another for a verification of self worth?

Perhaps it's all of the above. Perhaps it's none of them at all. Love is an enigma; one that has been unsolved throughout the ages. In any case, I know this is what I want... or even need. And yet I reject it when it is provided. Is it that I am afraid if losing it once recieved? Is it that I am too full of pride and arrogance to accept another? Or is it that I am cold, heartless being... and I like it that way?

Reading over the last two paragraphs, I just realized how dramatically the tone of the rant has shifted, so I'm going to pull a 180 and lighten things up again, throwing off everyone in the process. Treating my readers like yo-yos is not the nicest way to go about things, but hey, whatever works.

Moving onto the next and most likely last topic for the night, or according to the clock, morning... Nobou Uematsu, the composer of the Final Fantasy series, has been a fan favorite for as long as Final Fantasy has benn around. I, too, had once considered him a king among men as video game composers go back in the Super Nintendo era. After the excellent Final Fantasy VI OST, who couldn't? However, it seems that I cannot listen to any kind of recent music from the man without cringing... not so much for the songs themselves, which are fine in their own right, but for the fact that the special Uematsu quality has seemed to disappear ever since Final Fantasy VI. Just as every new Squaresoft game tends to disappoint me, so does every new Uematsu track. Thank god for Yasunori Mitsuda.

In closing, let this rant be an example to you, kiddies: Dr. Pepper, Starburst and pre-dawn hours do not contribute to good writing.
