Pesky Humans is designed to run on an IBM computer system. The game does not require a sound card, but if you wish to use sound you may have to download an audio driver.

Once you have downloaded Pesky Humans, create the directory C:\PESKY either through your windows file manager, winfile, or through the dos command: md c:\pesky.

If you have downloaded the sound driver package, create the directory C:\PESKY\SOUNDRV either through your windows file manager, winfile, or through the dos command:
md c:\pesky\soundrv.

Copy the respective zip files into their appropriate directory. pesky_ns.zip should be copied into c:\pesky, and if you have it, sound.zip should be copied into c:\pesky\soundrv.

Unzip the zipped game files by either using WinZip (make sure the file is unzipping in c:\pesky rather than a default directory) or using the command pkunzip pesky_ns.zip. Sound.zip should be unzipped in c:\pesky\soundrv.

If you have downloaded the sound drivers, please run setsound.bat, which should be located in c:\pesky. This batch file will check your system for a sound card, then choose the appropriate drivers for both music and sound. Once this has been done, run pesky.bat. This batch file will install the sound drivers and run Pesky Humans.

The first time you run Pesky Humans, it will ask you if you have a Sound Driver, Music Driver, and Mouse. If you have downloaded and successfully installed the sound drivers, click yes to Sound and to Music. If you have a Mouse, click yes to Mouse. It will then ask you if you wish to save this information to disk. If you are unsure whether or not your setting are correct, click No. The game should then load.

If you experience any problems with the system, please consult the readme.txt file that accompanies pesky_ns.zip. It answers several questions and gives important information about both keyboard interfaces and hints to win.
