Ok, I have read an early draft of the script.. and it wasn't as good as the film. A lot of this stuff was actually filmed, but cut out in post production. If you're not familier with the cut scenes, originally the film starts out in the future and we're being told a story. In the future Ricky and Jane are framed by Col. Fitts, as he shows the investigators the tape where Jane "hires" Ricky too kill her father. We are then shown the past (The movie we saw) In post production all that court stuff was cut and we were just shown the video. I think that was a lot better idea, and it didn't give any of the plot away, but left you wondering what would happn. That was the big difference. A few more minor scenes were cut, probably for time. There are only a few I felt should have stayed. Like this one, when Col. Fitts goes to ask Ricky for a Urine sample: Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RICKY Wow. Is it six months already? Can I give it to you in the morning? I just took a whiz. The Colonel doesn't respond. His eyes are focused on: On the TV: the shower scene from Top Gun plays. Seminude young MALE BODIES, artfully lit. COLONEL What the hell is that? RICKY turns to the TV. RICKY Top Gun. It's about pilot training in the Air Force. You never saw it? The COLONEL shakes his head, eyes glued to the screen. RICKY (cont'd) Oh, you would love this movie, Dad. Want to watch it with me? The COLONEL looks at him sharply, then: COLONEL No. He quickly walks down the hall -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know if that was ever filmed... Maybe, maybe not. That's the only big scene I liked Another thing I liked was a small exchange between Jane and Angela as they enter the house after fighting in the car about Ricky: Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JANE and ANGELA enter Through the front door, wet from the pouring rain, arguing. ANGELA Apparently, dating a psycho makes you totally lose your sense of humor. JANE Yeah, well, apparently, fucking everything that walks turns you into a total bitch. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One last thing I thought was kind of funny was a scene just before Jane and Angela find Ricky filming the dead bird. Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EXT. high SCHOOL CAMPUS - LATER THAT DAY Students pour out OF the BUILDING at the end OF the day. we follow Jane and Angela as they head toward the parking lot. A handsome teenage JOCK walks past them. JOCK (to Angela, grabbing his crotch) Just say the word, baby, and it's yours. ANGELA Great. Wrap it up and I'll take it home. Oh, and I'd like thin slices, please. JOCK (laughs) You know you want it, you stuck-up bitch. And he's gone. JANE What is with you? Everyone I know is dying to do it with him. ANGELA Oh, please. I would totally fall asleep. Trust me, Jane, once you've fucked that black guy who does the Polo ads, you're a little spoiled -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another major difference was something I'D TOTALLY HATE. Instead of Jane offering to walk home with Ricky, Angela invites Ricky to come with them to the mall (Totally out of character.) On the way to the mall there is a car wreck and Ricky sees a person die and says it's like god looking at you and it's beautifull... The walking home scene was way better, and one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie. It developes bonds between Jane and Ricky and shows tension between Angela and Jane. Also the car crash thing was dumb, and Ricky telling Jane about the homeless person dying was way better. All in all, that's the only big differences. There was a lot of bad dialouge given to Ricky that wasn't used (thank god) Stuff like when Lester is dead he wishes he brough his camera...
