I like to believe that I have fairly broad taste in forein cuisine. I like kippered herring, wasabi, and Thai foods that make me wince in pain. Sad to say, in terms of international sweets, I'm a little less cultured. For this reason, I'm withholding a score on Azuki Mousse Pocky. Azuki, for the clueless, is red bean. I'm not qualified to judge a distinctly Japanese traditional sweet.

But I can still describe it. It looks and feels like any Mousse Pocky, and it smells like red beans. Azuki ranges into mouth-twistingly strong, but this has only a mild flavor. It's also much less sweet than other Pocky.

Unlike any other Pocky I've tried, this is a gentle new experience for the American palate. I think that if you like azuki, you'll enjoy it; if you don't, you won't. If you've never tried azuki, this is a great place to start. Most azuki isn't quite this mild.
