Profile: Sluis Van was in a constant state of turmoil since the Empire began its conquest of the galaxy. Many of the natives were enslaved into their own ship yards, forced to build instruments for further planet's demise. Among these workers was a benevolent snake like creature known as Boaz.

He was known among his friends as a friendly, personable person who seemed to keep to himself. It was an accident that he ended up as the sub-chief technician, electrical systems, in a small company known as Sluis Van Shipyards. He basically followed the books and never took shortcuts, like some of his human counterparts. Also, he resented being told what to do, he solved it in a benevolent way, he simply worked until he outranked them.

He had established himself as a competent person. He even struck up a fine marriage with a beautiful Sluissi. Life was good, he had a fine house, a repulsor car, and a short range starship. He was preparing to get his wife a car for herself when the galaxy turned to mashed potatoes.

When the Imperial Navy took control of the base Boaz had yet more obstacles to overcome. He originally thought that they would just ask the yard to build them Star Destroyers. Fat chance! Soon enough he had Imperial bucket heads breathing down his neck about everything from the soldering on a connector to the way he tightened down a bolt. He got so fed up he actually wrote a letter to the foreman overseeing that particular section of the station. He was summoned (well, escorted from his bunk) to the foreman. He was beaten severely for showing disrespect for someone who was much "wiser" than he (ironic, huh?). However, after that he no longer had a bucket head following him around. Boaz took it as a triumph and victory over the Imperials. His counterparts finally gave him the respect he deserved.

This went on for ages. Boaz wanted to return to the planet many times. He was granted leave for one week a year to return to the planet on which he had grown up and established a family. Toward the end of the occupation Boaz was permitted to visit the planet one last time for an indefinite period. Boaz was rather upset about this, but did not complain until his arrival back at the station. Not only was he forced to work one and a half shifts, he was treated even worse. He wrote several letters in the following months which did not get him anywhere. Finally, he tried to write a letter informing the foreman for the sector to let Boaz back to the planet for his recommendations to the high command. He got the opposite of what he wished for.

He was sent a holo vid of his child and wife playing in the garden of his house. The next image was of their house afire. There were several more of his baby and wife being chased out of town and being shot at. They were eventually killed. Boaz was shocked and enraged, and went beserk with grief. The Imperials expected this and threw him into the brig, maximum sentence. He was to be transported in one month's time.

Never leave an electrical technician in a brig by himself. He was able to watch holo vids. He simply took the lamp and a small access panel apart that provides data to the station. With a little magic he was able to send email to the Rebellion with his location and asking for help. He only received jargon and a lot of adult email back.

No sooner than a week following did the attack of Sluis Van commence. He wondered if his messages helped at all. While the forces had left the brig, Boaz took the chance and managed to escape. The only thing he could thing of was to jump into an escape pod and aim for the rebel fleet.

He was not plucked from the depths of space for a day. He very much dislikes floating in a beer can without a toilet or bed for more than 4 hours. He noted that the next escape pod had to be more comfortable. He had drifted almost 2 clicks from the planet before a YT-2400 brought him aboard. He was greeted with a nice pair of wrist bracelets and blasters pointed at him. Once he had been checked out he was allowed aboard the base of this small ship, the M4.

He spent several weeks getting to know the decks and the complexity of the ship and its systems. He was told that the next port of call was undetermined and that there would be no departing shuttles. He was given a bunk with about 250 other refugees and Imperial captives. About three weeks after his liberation he was confined once again for digging through wires and access panels aboard the ship.

Several days past, Boaz was beginning to think that the Rebellion was no better than the Imperials. Then one day, a guy by the name of Tek appeared with a short grin from beneath his quickly disappearing hair. Tek offered a choice: work on board the M4 or be captives. Tough choice.

Boaz was integrated as a sub-tech in the general sense of the word. He was forced to fix everything from doors to droids, change light bulbs to fix the computers. He took it as an insult and requested several times to be put onto duties he was skilled at. He took the initiative and redesigned a power coupling for Tek. Amazed, Tek submitted a formal request for his promotion to official sub-electrician.

Boaz was enlightened and placed into a state of bliss. Boaz had so much fun he began taking weaponry lessons from a droid with a horrible personality matrix named Ramses. Boaz began to get the hang of the blaster rifle and soon moved to the High Power Sniper. He won a few junior league competitions against the troopers aboard the M4.

He was becoming a regular aboard until a battle in the Maw with Admiral Daala. Boaz was really upset, he almost died. He did not like that, and was placed into a state of fear. Boaz was found in the beer looking at the stars more often now. The Herglic behind the counter tried to cheer him up with a free pint now and then, but it did not work. It took the kindness of a jovial person from the far reaches of the universe to cheer him up. Graeme Bell and Boaz struck up a relationship.
