NOTE: Uninstall all other PPP Boosters or Enchanters, or else this method of decreasing ping and PL will not work correctly!
1. First step is to Download this great program
called
PPP-BOOSTER. That program will
increase your
PPP Protocool connection rate to your ISP. In other
words its good.
2. Once you download that program install it then run it.
3. Once the program is open, look for a button called
"backup", then store the backed modem file in a
directory you will remember. Then once thats done, click
all the options below to "Recommened". Then click OK
once done, then exit the program.
DO NOT RESTART YOUR COMPUTER YET!
4. Next step is to click Start....... Then Settings.....Controll
Panels.....
then Modems......
5. When your in Modems click your existing modem then
"Properties"... Then look for a little Tab called
"Connection"...... then look for "Port
Settings" then
you will see two little Sliders. Turn them BOTH
ALL THE WAY DOWN!!! If you turn them all the way
down it will give you less Buffers, which is good for
Quake. The less buffers the less the Ping and Packet Loss. Then Restart your
computer.
(IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AND
HAVE DONE THE OPTIONAL THAT USED TO BE HERE, UN DO IT! MAKE SURE THE ERROR CONTROL IS
ON!!)
6. The last step is to connect to the Internet then join a
nice game of TF or any other Mod in QuakeWorld.

The method of decreasing your ping (as shown above) works most
effectivelly if you have Mindsping Internet Service
NOTE: If you experience ANY difficulties with your modem,
I am not held
responsible. I would recommend that you reset all your settings to the default
they were meant to be on. I have had NO cases in which that incident has
happened.
