Background: These are the cruelist of the Dark Eldar, and take to battle to satisfy their neeed for murder. Spawn: The Dark Lord may ride a chaos spawn for 35 pts. Rules for spawn can be found in the army list section for dark Riders. Special: You may upgrade the lord to a Witch King at 25 pts per each psi-level. Background: The Witch Eldar are fanatic worshipers of the dark one, he who must not be named. They perfrom elaborate blood sacrifices in his name. As a result they have been awarded with powerful psychic powers. Assassin - 35 pts M WS BS S T W I A Ld 5 5 5 4 4 2 9 2 10 Armor: Mesh (5+ save). Special: Infiltration and Fights Alone. Weapons: Shuriken pistol, may have a needle sniper rifle for 10 pts. Wargear: Chamelioline suit and a targeter, plus up to one wargear card. Background: The Dark Eldar assasin is a cold blooded killer trained by the Witch Eldar since an infant. The Witch Eldar capture infant dark eldar once a year. Most of thse are sacrificed, but a select few are chosen by the witch queen, and these are the eldar who later become Assasins. Special: May be included in any squad except with witches or dark riders. A unit of beastmen or human cultists must be led by a champion. The champion is not included in the number of people per squad. Background: These are lesser dark eldar nobles who hope to one day become a dark lord. They act as cruely as possible so the Dark One will notice them.
Squads:
Notes: Since dark eldar are so few the number of dark eldar squads must not exceed the number of beastmen and human cultists, who should be the bulk of the army. Black Warriors - 16 pts each M WS BS S T W I A Ld 5 4 4 3 3 1 6 1 9 Squad: 3-12 models. Armour: Carapace (4+ save) Weapons: Shuriken pistols. Any may have assault weapons, and any may have shuriken catapults (5 pts each), or any may have lasguns (2 pts each). One may have a special weapon, and one may have a heavy weapon. Champion: A champion may lead the squad. Background: These are lesser dark eldar nobles who hope to one day become a dark lord. They act as cruely as possible so the Dark One will notice them.
Witch Eldar - 135 pts per squad, plus 25 pts each for each mastery level of the squad. Type M WS BS S T W I A Ld Initiate 6 4 4 3 3 1 6 2 9 Squad: 5 models. Weapons: Force sword, hand weapon (axe, sword, sickle), and shuriken pistol. Armor: Carapace (4+ save). Special: They have gestalt psi-powers like grey knights. Background: These are weak Dark Eldar Witches who fight in covens instead of individually. Dark Riders - 49 pts each Type M WS BS S T W I A Ld Dark Rider 4 4 4 3 3 1 5 1 9 Chaos Spawn 6+D3 1+D3 0 5 5 3 D6 1+D31 6 Squad: 2 to 5 models. Weapons: Laser Lance and Laspistol. Armor: Carapace (4+ save) Grenades: The entire squad may be equipped with: Frag Grenades (2 pts each) or Krak Grenades (3 pts each). Ay may be given assault weapons. Chaos Spawn Rules: The spawn follow the rules for juggers and jugger riders. The spawn cause fear and suffer from stupidity (remember to use the riders LD). At the begining of each phase roll up the spawns appropriate stats. For instance at the begining of the movement phase you roll for its Move characteristic. At the begining of the hth phase you roll for its A and WS. If it is a tie roll for I. This means each spawns characteristic will vary from turn to turn. Coherency: the riders use extended coherency. Background: These are often barons from houses of dark eldar that specialize in magic or in genetic manipulation. Beastmen - 14 pts each M WS BS S T W I A Ld 4 4 3 3 4 2 3 1 7 Squad: 5 to 20 models. Armor: Flak (6+ save). Weapon: Sword or Axe. Wargear: Any number may have additional assault or basic weapons. Champion: Must be led by a champion. See champion in the characters section. Background: Beastmen are looked on with contempt by the dark eldar. They are used almost like a wall sent ahead of their more valuable troops. They are viewed as incompetent and so must be lead by a dark eldar.
Human Cultists - 9 pts each M WS BS S T W I A Ld 4 3 3 3 3 1 3 1 7 Squad: 5 to 20 models. Armor: Flak (6+ save) Weapons: Shotgun or laspistol and chainsword. Wargear: Any may have additional assault or basic weapons. One may have a special or heavy weapon. Champion: Must be led by a champion. See champion in the characters section. Background: The chaos cultists on the planets the dark eldar control are used in battle as cannon fodder. They are viewed as more competent than beastmen, but not enough to go into battle without a dark eldar leading them. Chaos Hounds - 13 pts each M WS BS S T W I A Ld 7 4 0 4 4 2 1 2 6 Squad: 5 to 10 models. Champion: Must be led by a champion. See champion in the characters section. Background: Dark eldar use chaos hounds to hunt in a way like fox hunting, but you don't want to know what they hunt. They have been found to be just as good in battle.
Demons: You may field any daemons from any power (dark eldar worship chaos undivided). However you may not field both Khorne and Slannesh in the same army, or Nurgle and Tzeentch in the same army. Background: When a high lord gets too old and will not live too much longer, he builds a dreadnought for himself to prolong his life. Usually this is not due to illness, rather fear of assassination. This is one of the few ways for a high lord to retire without fear. Warwalker Just like the eldar version, except the pilot has a WS and BS of 4, and it costs 5 pts more. Viper Same as the eldar version, except the crew have a WS and BS of 4, and it costs 10 pts more. Wargear List: Assault Weapons: Any number per model. Note: this list is roughly based on Jesse Butler's. The main diferences are that they all wear carapace, not plasteel armor, some of the names, and that dark riders ride Chaos Spawn not Steeds of Slannesh. The background is different: his were slanneshi, mine are undivided.
