Alright, there are three subjects that are on my mind when it comes to the wonderful world of wrestling. So I might as well get to them.
The first is the return of DX and I couldn't be happier. They are without a doubt my favorite stable of all time, just barely beating out the Four Horsemen. DX is a perfect team of heels, as well as faces. It was a great decision to bring them back into the show.
Now, make them into real heels. Heels don't work if they are the underdogs in every circumstance. They need to be the ones with the advantage. That way, when the babyface finally wins, it's all the more dramatic. Having HHH always having the odds against him makes me want to cheer for him, not boo him. No matter what an asshole he might be otherwise. McMahon always stacking the deck against HHH each and every show just doesn't thrill me. Make DX into killer heels. Make them fearsome. Don't make them silly cartoon characters that get taken out by badly designed traps from Austin or by aging movie actors.
The second thing on my mind is the Big Show, the new World Wrestling Champion. A lot of people are disappointed with this move. Most people want the Rock or Austin to be champ. Or in my case, HHH. The Big Show hasn't exactly been setting the WWF on fire the past six months, and the Cancer angle was dumb, dumb, dumb.
But hell, give the big guy a chance. I liked him as the WCW champ some years ago. He was incredibly intimidating. Watching him, you got the impression no one could beat him. He can carry the title. Also, no one was expecting him to become the World Champion. Surprise in wrestling is a good thing, especially since I can still remember the bad old days of the WWF with Hogan as the Champion where I could predict every single match I saw and the result of every single angle.
The Big Show's reign as Champion may be better then expected. Or it may suck. But give it a chance before critizing it.
The third topic, is the parody of JR that was done by WCW. Because of this, I refuse to watch Nitro until the day Russo and Ferrera quit or are rightfully fired. What a bunch of crap. Mocking a man with Bell's Palsy. Man that takes guts. Like the bully back in grade school who would only threaten the smallest kids. If you are going to mock the competition, fine, it's done all the time. But have more respect then to make fun of a man's facial expressions when he cannot do anything it due to A DISEASE! Hey, I got an idea, why don't Russo and Ferrera have Hall and Nash go piss on Vince McMahon Sr.'s grave or something.
Oh, waitaminute, RAW already did an angle with grave robbery. It's cliche now.
Point is though, have some freaking respect. Or better yet, worry about your own product, not about the compition. It's just not funny. |
