WAR MACHINE
ROME... history's most complete culture, backed by a terrifying, unbeatable war machine. Yes, this describes the greatest empire in our history; an enormous, united group of settlements, pacified by the Roman army. The state's driving policy (Pax Romana) provided sufficient impetus for the machine to conquer all lands touching her boarders; to create international peace and civilization while utilizing unequalled force. The great cultural mosaic stood for 500-years!

The state had developed a powerful professional army that deployed smart battle tactics and awesome weapons and war machines. The most devastating and feared of these weapons was the catapult. The most powerful was capable of hurling a 50-kilogram rock over 700 meters. Used from 400BC until replaced by cannons in AD1500, catapults were machines that could propel anything from arrows to boulders, fireballs to pestilence.
