The Chapel

This is the Chapel, where Jesse puts down his thoughts on his faith. Jesse is a Christian, but is also interested in finding out what people of other faiths believe. Though he's not very well-learned in the ways of Christianity, he is trying to increase his faith and knowledge of God. Just a warning, this is a no-holds-barred chapel, so Jesse will not be speaking politically correct just to please people. If there is something here you disagree with, you're welcome to your opinion as Jesse is welcome to his, and the door leading outside is right behind you.

Revelations
NEW!
July 13, 2003
A short while ago, I heard someone mention something about the book of Revelations saying that there were only going to be 144,000 people who are saved and go to Heaven, and that those are from 12 specific tribes, which I was doubtful of being able to track my lineage through. I'd read that spot before, and decided to investigate and see what was up. It's true, Revelations says that there will be 144,000 people from those 12 tribes. The verses can be found in chapter 7 of Revelations.
And I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred and forty-four thousand sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
From the tribe of Judah, twelve thousand were sealed, from the trive of Reuben twelve thousand, from the tribe of Gad twelve thousand, from the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, from the trive of Naphtali twelve thousand, from the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand, from the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, from the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, from the tribe of Isachar twelve thousand, from the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, from the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, from the tribe of Benjamin, twelve thousand were sealed.

This has lead many people online to wonder whether there will only be 144,000 people who are saved and go to Heaven. It's so sad, because the Bible doesn't end the story right there. It's not even a matter of going very far to find more information. The next verse reads:
After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands.

It's obvious that there will be more than those 144,000 from those tribes in Heaven. Many have speculated that those are the saved Jews who have placed their faith in Jesus, or the promise of the Messiah, and are in Heaven. I have to agree with those people. Some have speculated that this number represents Christians who are adopted into the family of Israel by being believers, but I've seen no mention of us being adopted into certain tribes, so I disagree with that idea. All in all, there will be so many people in Heaven, that 144,000 will seem like a petty number in comparison. These people will be from every tribe, and every tongue and nation will be represented there. This all waits to happen until all of these people have been reached with the Gospel, so I have decided to give my life to the spreading of the Gospel in the missions field doing Bible translation. Jesus gave His disciples these instructions in Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

This is the great commission of which all Christians are partakers. It has been instructed that we go forth and spread the Gospel to all people, and Jesus won't return to this planet to take us away until His message has been preached to the end that all nations, tribes and tongues will be found represented in Heaven.
