Is it possable to get electric energy from a lemon? |
HYPOTHESIS:yes i do think that you can get a little bit of energy/electricity from a lemon. I think this because normal batteries have a type of acid in them that helps them run, well lemons have a type of acid themsleves. Thats why i think that lemons can give off energy/electricity. |
MATERIALS: 1. 18gauge of copper wire. 2. Steel paperclip. 3. Lemons 4. Sand paper 5. wire clippers 6. connection wire 7. Small 1 AA battery clock |
PROSEDUIER: First i took the sand paper and sanded the steel paperclip till it was all shiny. Then i cut the paper clip down to about 3in. then i cut the copper wire down to about 3in. Then i connected the connection wire to the end of the steel paper cilp. Then i cut another 3in. piece of both the copper and steel wires and connected some of the connection wire to them. Then i stuck the copper and steel wires into one lemon (repeated for 3 other lemons) and then I connected the ends of the connection wires that i ahd left free and i connected them to the negative and positive points of the battery holder inside the clock. |
CONCLUESION: I have concluded that the lemon did not power the clock. It didn't power the clock because the lemon didn't have enough amps. for the clock's mechanism to work, but i did prove that the lemon has a current by putting water on my fingers and touching both of the wires at the same time. It would give you a little tingling feeling (if u kept it there too long it would start to hurt). |
