About Reneé O'Connor

Earth got it's first glimpse at pure beauty and charm on February 15th 1971 in Houston, Texas and then has seen her grow up in Katy, Texas. Reneé's mother is Sandra Wilson and her father is Walter O'Connor. This vision of pure beauty has luscious blond hair, sparkling green eyes and stands at 5'3½" (162.5cm). She currently resides in Auckland, New Zealand (where Xena: Warrior Princess is filmed) and also has a home back in Los Angeles (California). She first began studying acting at the age of 12 with the Houston Alley Theatre (which is of course in Houston)

Reneé O'Connor enjoys Jazz music (specifics to come) , kick boxing, rock climbing, water skiing at some acrobatics. She also keeps in tip top shape with daily morning jogs that start as early as 4:30am and weekly weight workouts. All this plus of course the great physical demands that need to be met for the filming of Xena:Warrior Princess.

Reneé's Very First Performance

It was long believed that Reneé first performed for her loving fans at the age of 12 with the Houston Alley Theatre. Then, an upsetting interview told the world that Reneé had performed at 8 years old doing the best darn caterpillar the world had ever seen with the Houston Theatre On Wheels. Now, the world is about to be shocked again! It would seem the Reneé's very first performance was actually made at the very young age of 19months! Yes! At 19month, Reneé would have put on the cutest pink bunny suit, held her hands to her chin and hop around for her cheering fans.

Other then acting

What? You didn't think that acting was all Reneé ever did... did you? Of course she's had other, less grandiose, jobs! After moving to LA when she was 18, Reneé actually did some waitressing! I bet those being served and now see her on television every week are just kicking themselves silly for not leaving a bigger tip!

Other then being a waitress, she has also been an aerobics instructor. Now that's something I can imagine. I mean... just look at those abs!
I wonder if she'd be willing to give lessons to one of her biggest fans ;-)

Prior to Xena:WP

Reneé O'Connor's professional acting career (when she got paid to act) started in 1989 when she shot commercials for McDonald's & Exxon. Soon after, she stared in the series 'Teen Angel' featured on the Disney Channel's 'Mickey Mouse Club' and then in 'Match Point'. In the same year, she moved to Los Angeles and landed a small role in the episode 'The Switch' from the 'Tales From The Crypt' series which marked Arnold Schwarzenegger's directing debut.

Reneé's next important role was that of Jessica Ladd, daughter of Cheryl Ladd in Danielle Steel's 'Changes' (1991). She then got small parts in Arresting Behavior (1992) and Sworn to Vengeance (1993) before she guest-starred on the hit television series NYPD Blue in the episode 'Oscar, Meyer, Wiener' where she portrayed the daughter of a murdered couple (1993). Her next role would be in the NBC Movie 'The Flood: Who Will Save Our Children?' (1993) where she played 'Leslie' a spirited young girl in a group students who's live are suddenly endangered by a terrible flood. That same year, she also got the small (yet very well acted!) role of Julia Wilks in the Disney movie, 'The Adventure Of Huck Finn' starring Elijah Wood.

In 1994, Reneé blew away the competition in an audition for the role of 'Deianeira' in 'Hercules And The Lost Kingdom' Produced by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi (also producers of Xena:WP)

1995 would be the year of Gold for Reneé O'Connor. First getting the role of Bettie Draper in the ABC tv-movie 'Follow The River' set in 1775 in which she is captured by Shawnee Indians. Then it was time for 'Rockford Files: A Blessing In Disguise' starring James Garner where Reneé got the big role of the ever do lovely yet a little self-obsessed Laura Sue Dean. To top off the year, Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi signed Reneé again, this time for another co-starring role in 'Darkman II: The Return of Durant'.

From then on, it's been Xena:WP all the way! And no one's complaining! Reneé says that Gabrielle is her favorite character up to date, and I'm pretty sure it's most her fans favorite character as well.

Very Involved Folks

Sandra Wilson (also known as MommaROC or ROCmom) is without any doubts the biggest Reneé O'Connor fan there is (myself coming in a very close 2nd place) Currently residing in Houston, Sandra took it upon herself to start her daughters official fan club! Now if that isn't proof of her love and dedication, then I don't know what is! She has even been known to personally reply to some of the fan mail her daughter receives! Of course, even the great MommaROC herself can't be expected to be able to keep up with the huge mob of fans her daughter has. So most of the time, your burning questions about Reneé O'Connor will be answered by the very knowledgeable ROCwebs, who also deserve a great big thank you in their efforts to promote our Goddess! "Thanx a lot y'all! We really appreciate all your hard work!"

Her step father is Eddie Wilson. Although he might not seem as involved as Sandra Wilson, it's useless to say that he's as big of a fan (not to say more) then any other ROC fan out there! In a visit of ROC in Austin, he hung up 50 feet banners on his Restaurant THREADGILL'S WORLD HEADQUARTERS saying "RENEÉ O'CONNOR, WE LOVE YOU!". "Good Work M. Wilson & thank you VERY much!!!" Although I haven't had the chance to eat at his restaurant (yet anyhow) , it's the first place I plan to drive to as soon as I can amass enough money to get out of Canada and see the world. Hopefully by then, M. Wilson will have added fried Armadillo to the menu ;-)

One Lucky Guy

Reneé's relationship with Steve Muire (29) from Auckland seems to keep going and going and going...! After more then 8 months together, Reneé said that Steve very well could be 'the one'. I'm sure he knows what a precious woman he has, and seeing that comment from Reneé herself... "What the hell are you waiting for to pop the big question Steve?!" Anyhow, I want to wish the couple many many more happy days!!! "We all love you guys!"
