INSPIRATION : A COLLECTION OF HEARTWARMING QUOTATIONS TO MELT THE BRAIN
01/31

Time to sneak in an update while you least expect it. Here, at the end of the month, where it's likely to be forgotten.

...Not that not the end of the month is any less forgettable... but then, I think I've more or less screwed myself out of a readership through aggressive inattention, so this won't likely make very many waves anyway.

And now, on to the lameass quotes, provided this week by

1. "Life is a succession of moments; to live each one is to suceed."
To Which I Say:
The obvious is such a wonderful basis for stupid quotations, isn't it? Then again, this isn't necessarily obvious, or true, if you listen to philosophers. In fact, according to Descartes, there's no guarantee that we don't go leapfrogging through time like errant dimes tossed down a 50-floor stairway. Yes, Meditations are such fun.  Anyway, here's some advice: make sure the succession of moments spent in Philosophy are spent sleeping; you'll learn by osmosis AND get a good nap in the deal.
Only problem is finding a comfortable position... It's really quite irritating how short people were 150 years ago.

2. "No one knows what he can do until he tries."
To which I say:
Hey, what kind of sexist agenda do these motivational bastards have going here? This is pure shamefulness! What about she? Hmm? 'SHE' just might not know what SHE can do until SHE tries!

... Then again, maybe 'she' is a cold, calculating bitch. Then she's probably had it planned out since she was six.
He... she.. same thing, different diaphonous jumpsuit...

3.   "The key to failure is trying to please everybody."
To Which I Reply:
Bill Cosby knows where it's at. This quote kind of goes against the grain of most inspirational hooey, since it actually includes the word 'failure', an etymon which usually sends the pleasant fat ladies shrieking for the trees, their motivational agenda thoroughly disrupted by horrible, horrible negativity.

Then again, Bill Cosby rules, so it's probably more effective than anything those mavens ever came up with.
Actually, the key to failure is buying these flippers.
4. A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.
To Which I Say:
Good for the wise man. I'll stick to finding, myself... it involves much less effort.
Finding: Is it opportunities or ants?
