Corporate Development:

MegaCorp is the current incarnation of an industrial conglomerate, originally consisting of American, Japanese and Taiwanese money. This included sub-divisions of Ford, Mitsubishi and Compal, fortunately it had shifted most of its assets out of America before the collapse.

As it had expanded and re-invested its surviving assets it had been loosely involved with the Israeli/Japanese project to develop an FTL drive, not knowing that this is what it was supporting. As a result this investment the corporation had been given a head start on space exploration and exploitation.

One of the corporations major financial mistakes was not to follow ITTT’s lead in the transportation stakes. They had however ’acquired’ large volumes of space for their own use, adopting a long term development goal that would lead to major returns on investment. As part of this long term planning the corporation had established development bases in each of it's four sectors. The sector containing MegaOne had a large number of garden worlds and looked to be prime real estate for expanding nations. It was here that the corporation established it's new corporate headquarters. Sectors MegaTwo and MegaThree showed large mineral deposits scattered over the systems, though there where not that many readily inhabitable worlds.

Unfortunately mans inherent ability to wage war, as shown by three different Solar Wars, on themselves led to a slower than forecast expansion. This in turn meant that the corporation was approaching a cash shortage situation, although strong on long term assets. In an effort to generate a stronger cash flow the corporation decided to offer worlds for colonisation in the MegaFour sector.

The MegaFour sector consisted of twenty three systems clustered around the MegaFour system. The system itself was home to the corporation in this sector. Mega IV was surrounded by six planets and two asteroid belts. The inner two planets were super heated rock balls, then there was the inner of the two asteroid belts, after this came the planet Hazer then the outer of the two asteroid belts and finally two gas giant planets.

Hazer was a garden world with no indigenous species that was harmful to man. With a gravity of 0.95 that of Earth and a Mediterranean style climate over two thirds of it's landmasses it was an ideal world for settling. The corporation had built a small commercial spaceport along with the residential and recreational facilities required for it's staff in the system. Hazer was also home to the corporations sector fleet.

The corporation had established a mining operation in the outer asteroid belt and two ship building facilities on moons orbiting the inner of the two gas giants. These yards (Each has a capacity of 200 TMF with a single ship capacity of 100TMF) would be the largest such facilities within the sector, enforced by contract and force as required.

Freedom Inc, the front organisation set up by the corporation, set about 'selling' off the various systems within MegaFour. For all intents and purposes Freedom Inc would sell a system to the highest bidder that would agree to the conditions it laid down. These included:-

The one thing that can be said in the corporations favour, it didn't try to sex up the systems it was selling, each potential customer got the raw data to make of as they wished.

Editorial Notes

MegaFour was set up as a sector in which to run a Full Thrust Campaign for the Spartans Wargames Society.

The corporation was the umpires instrument for setting up backgrounds and keeping control within the games environment (Someone gets too big to quick and a corporation battle squadron removes some of their assets)

The idea was to have small, developing nations, so that were forced to start with very little and work up.

The original campaign rules were adapted from Roger Burton West's set available from here.

Original players and nations were:-
