The game starts when Ryu is in the Whelp form. He is freed from a crystal in which he was set for eternal slumber. Two men free him by destroying the crystal. Ryu attacks them and wins. If he goes to one of them after he has died, and look at him, Ryu will get a sword. This will not be useful now, but later it can be equiped and is stronger than any other gotten early in the game. Ryu continues through the mines. He eventually comes across the exit, and a very powerful enemy. If Ryu attacks this enemy, the crane controller will knock you out. This is what is supposed to happen. When he wakes again, he is in a cage and he is being carted to a far off place. Ryu needs to shake the cage so that it will fall off the train. When this happens, Rie will find Ryu because he scares his food away. He saves Ryu from two wolves, and takes him to live in his house. Even though Rei does not have enough food for Ryu, he still takes him to the house. In the house Ryu meets Teepo. They came to live with Rei in almost the exact same way. Both were found lying on the ground unconscious. Rei and Teepo leave Ryu in the house so that they can find, or steal, food for him. Ryu decides to search the surrounding land. He goes around and finds 2 green apples and a treasure chest and another hidden item within the forest. He goes to McNiel Village where he finds Rei and Teepo. They then decide that he will be a great help, because he has not been seen by the villagers. They get him some armor and a weapon. He ignores this one and equips the one found in the Mines. Now, the three of them decide to hide on the trail and wait for an unsuspecting traveller to mug. Unfortunately, this traveller is Bunyan. Bunyan is the second Master found in the game. He is very powerful and knows why Ryu is trying to mug him. The food is very sparce ever since the Chimera (Nue) has been attacking the wild-life and the domesticated cows in the area. Rei discovers that they made a mistake, when they attacked Bunyan, but then he reallizes that Bunyan cannot be home if he is going to Wyndia. The three go to Bunyan's house to see what he has to take, food or money. When there, Ryu finds some Beef Jerky downstairs. When all three come downstairs to see Ryu's find, Bunyan comes home. Rei goes upstairs to see what is happening, but he is captured. Teepo follows and then Ryu, both are captured also. Bunyan claims that if Rei will go to Mt. Glaus and get rid of the Chimera and if Ryu and Teepo stay there, then he will not hurt them. Rei complies and goes to Mt. Glaus. Ryu and Teepo stay with Bunyan, but after cutting some logs, Teepo desides that they have done enough work and follows Rei. When on the mountain, Teepo and Ryu come apon a house. This is where Rei is staying. After a good night's sleep, a noise is heard. The three go outside and see the Chimera. They attack it but are unsuccessful in killing it. They follow it into the cave and eventually come apon a dead-end. They decide to Jump into the river. After doing so, they float into an hidden cave. There they finish killing the Nue. They go into the cave behind the Nue and notice 3 dead babies. The Chimera was trying to keep them alive, but did not succeed. After they go home, they are considered heroes and no longer have to mug the town for food or money. The vegitation and wildlife returns, and everyone is well fed. There is one problem, Mr. McNiel is charging high taxes and one of the town members (Loki) comes upon Rei. He asks if they can steal it from the house and return the money to the town members. Rei finally accepts and that night they enter the house. They enter through the Wall that was destroyed earlier. Many of the guards help you for a price. They ask for 50 Zenny (money), a wallet, to defeat the guard dog, to ring a bell, to find Mary, to cause the chickens to run, and finally after all of those the house is free to enter. Rei does not enter with Ryu and Teepo. He goes to the roof. Ryu and Teepo go through the house and are attacked by 5 ghosts. Then finally they get to the roof of the house. They find a Grapple hook and then Rei finds them. They go across to the other side and go into Mr. McNiel's room. There they find him harrassing a young woman. They start to attack him, but he is a wimp. The ghosts become one form and attack you because they are the past McNiels. When defeated, Rei and Ryu and Teepo bring the money to the town. There they are considered evil because Mr. McNiel hangs around many Mobsters. Rei, Teepo, and Ryu go back home and find that it is burning. Then, They are attacked by two of the mobsters, Bailo and Sunder. They kill you. The next thing that happens is Ryu finds himself alone and in Bunyan's house. He talks to Bunyan, and Bunyan tells him that the other two were killed. Ryu decides to go to Wyndia. After that, Bunyan can now become a master. Along with Bunyan, Ryu can get another master. This master is hidden in the forest next to the Fishing area. Mygus is its name. Mygus gives Ryu magics and Bunyan gives strengths to him. It is important to get Frost so that some of the enemies can be defeated. After frost is acquired, change the Master to Bunyan. After Ryu talks to Bunyan, he goes to to Yrall Road. There Ryu starts the climb up Mt. Myrneg. On Mt. Myrneg, Ryu comes apon the two mobsters that defeated him before. Sunder believes that Ryu is a ghost and starts to cower away, but Bailo comes behind Ryu, and not being affraid, stabs him in the back. Ryu then turns into a Dragon, and the Fire Gene comes from this, when the two mobsters are dancing in joy. They get scared seeing a dragon, but then they capture it and bring it to Wyndia. At Wyndia, Bailo and Sunder unveil Ryu, but Ryu is not a dragon. Bailo decides that scaring the boy will make him turn into a Dragon again. The three of them are arrested for trying to "pull the hood over the King's Eyes." Nina, the Princess of Wyndia, comes down to the Dungeon, where Ryu and the Mobsters are, and decides that her father has treated them cruelly. When Bailo and Sunder are released, they attack Nina and take her away. Ryu escapes from his cell and follows. Even though Ryu could not beat them when he was with Rei and Teepo, he tries again. Once again he fails. Nina hid when the battle took place, and when it ended, she cured Ryu. It is impossible for the two of them to go back upstairs, because the door is locked; therefore they go into the secret passway beneath the dungeon. There are many graves in the secret passway. Each has two highlighted words on them. One is green and the other is red. Ryu has to remember the red ones. When they get to the last of the stones, it has many buttons on it. They have to press the same words as were red on the other stones. I will have those words up later... come back to see... After all the buttons are pressed correctly, a pathway will be opened. This will lead to the town of Wyndia. After leaving the town, Nina and Ryu go to Eygnock Road. On this road, there is a house. They go into the house and Nina doesnt follow; therefore Ryu follows. He becomes captured by Bailo and Sunder once again. They capture Ryu and Nina again. (this becomes habit forming!). After being captured, Ryu and Nina are taken to The Championship Arena. There they are being held by a drunken Horse-creature called Fahl, another master later in the game. Ryu and Nina escape from Fahl, and go to the nearby mountain, Mt. Bournore (this name may be wrong... I cannot read my writing..). On this mountain, they come apon a house. In the house, two men agree to let them stay the night. As they sleep, the two men tell Sunder and Bailo that the children are there. The next day, Bailo and Sunder come to see. Nina notices that the door is locked and then hears the two mobsters. They both run out the back way to a pulley controlled machine. Using this, they escape to the other side of the mountain. Once on the other side, They travel some more, and then are found trapped between the end of the mountain and the mobsters. Then Ryu and Nina jump off the mountain. Ryu turns into another dragon and saves Nina. The Defence Gene is located just below the mountain. Soon after escaping from the others, Ryu and Nina come apon a temple. In this temple, the travellers come apon a very mechanically inclined woman named Momo. She is accompanied by Honey. Together they join the party. Momo helps Ryu and Nina escape from the two men. She takes them to the top of the Temple and a rocket is found in the top. Momo just presses a button below the table. After the rocket takes off and lands, search the area for the Thorn Gene. They go to the Coffee Shop. There a man comes up to Momo and tells her that he worked with her father. Then he asks them to come to the Plant so that he can explain better. When in the Plant, the three notice many genetically engineered plants. The doctor told them about how they were trying to make plants for the people of Wyndia, but sometimes there were mistakes. The mistakes were usually taken to the dump, but one mistake was alive and was attacking some of the people dumping the other mistakes. He asks Momo if she could help. Momo says yes. They all go to the Dump and search for this mistake. When they find it, they say that it needs to be disposed of. This seems to trigger something in the creature and it starts to innitiate battle. In the beginning of the battle, the enemy keeps replinishing just slightly more HP than they take away. Eventually this stops, and Ryu turns into a dragon and the others attack it. After it is defeated, it asks them to finish it off by dumping it into the lava. Ryu does this for it. After it falls in the lava, it throws a smaller version out and this creature is Peco. After escaping from the Dump, they return to the Plant and the doctor pretends to help them escape, but it is really just a trap. This time there are 4 people in the party, therefore Bailo and Sunder can take a hostage and have the other 3 fight in the arena. They are scheduled to fight with the dodai first. In this battle, it is important that Ryu turns into the Ice dragon (Fire Gene, Reverse Gene, Thorn Gene). When he is the Ice dragon, he attacks the Dodai only. He attacks it with Frost Claw. When it is defeated, the will go to the Null Magic Hall to fight Emtai. He will try to convince Ryu and the others that his daughter is sick and that he needs to win the battle. Do not listen to him. Kick His Butt!!! Once this battle is over, Ryu and Garr will go one on one. Ryu must give the battle his best or the game will be over. When Garr says that the battle needs to end, he kills Ryu. Then for his prize, he asks for Ryu and his friends. Bailo and Sunder do not know what to say, but, knowing that Garr could easily kill them, they listen. Garr tells them that they can leave, and he tells Bailo and Sunder not to mess with them. Of course Bailo and Sunder ignore this, and chase after Ryu. On Maekyss Gorge, Ryu and the group comes upon Bailo and Sunder. They fight some of the mobster's henchmen. After defeating them, Garr appears and joins the party. When he joins Momo also joins in the battle. They eventually kill Bailo and Sunder even in the Stallion form. After defeating the stupid mobsters, the group goes to Wyndia Castle to get the passports. Nina has to stay behind because she is the Princess. Nina stays behind, but Honey also stows away in the castle, and Nina has to find her. Honey first runs behind some boxes in the basement of the castle, then goes up to Nina's room and outside on the Walkway outside of her room. Honey jumps from the roof and Nina tries to catch her, but both fall. Honey saves them from death but nearly kills herself in the process. Nina takes Honey to Momo. When they meet, Nina decides to stay with the party. When crossing the Checkpoint, Nina is seen, and Garr claims to be Nina's father. The guard does not want to dissagree with the mighty Garr, so he lets them go. When on the other side of the Checkpoint, Nina claims that she does not want to be a henderance to the group, and says that she wants to become stronger. On the other side, a port town is found, there is a problem in Rhapala though. The Boats cannot get to the docks. The reason for the lack of boats, it because there are monsters in the Lighthouse, and the light has gone out. In the town, a man named, Beyd tells Ryu and the others about this. He wants to gain the love of Shadis by going to the lighthouse and taking care of the problem himself, but he knows that Zig will not approve of this because Zig also wants Shadis's love. Beyd decides that Ryu and everyone else can help him gain strength. He asks Ryu to buy him some equipment. He gives Ryu 1000 Zenny. Take this Zenny and forget it. Buy him a Moon Sword and some good armor, remember that he can only wear what Ryu can wear. Ok now to fighting him. When I fought him, I used Ryu, Nina, and Peco. I used this group because Ryu is an automatic. Nina because she can use some good magics to attack him. Peco, because he has low defense. Ryu would attack him on the first round, and Nina would use a weak magic on him and Peco would attack. On the second round, if he is not dead yet, I used Heal with Ryu so that he did not die, and defended with the rest. Then I repeated the process over and over again until the 20 rounds ended or he died. The first 5 rounds, I usually killed him, but after that, he did not die unless I didnt cure him. I eventually made him strong enough that I could not kill him ever. It took me around 10 hours to get him this strength (I had nothing better to do). He doesnt need to be this strong, but it is fun. He only needs to have around 200 hitpoints and 25 defense. If he has this, he should not be hit too hard and should be able to kill Zig easily. One key in the battle between Beyd and Zig, Do not use Dragon, that is not a hidden kind of attack. After Beyd beats Zig, he is injured from the battle and tells Ryu to go to the lighthouse and take care of the enemy there. In the lighthouse, Ryu will need some Flame Chrysm. I brought more than enough for the journey; bought it in Rhapala. I had 4 but only used one. That is way too much, unless you cannot get it right easily. Bring enough as Ryu deems necessary. When they get to the Machine to put the chrysm into, go to the machine and put in one piece of Chrysm, then go to the Lever. Pull the lever and wait for the pulse to be about half way up and on its way toward the center(for me, I waited until then to pull the lever again so that it would be down at the top of the pulse), if you believe you can pull it faster, then wait for it to be closer to the top to pull it. When it is done correctly, a stream of Chrysm gas wil go through the pipes. Help this get to the Light at the top of the house. When there, remember to get the Brood in the top of the lighthouse. It is behind the light. When the switch is pulled for the light, some fairies will come to complain and they will give you the Fairy Tiara. They will be mad and tell Ryu to come to their land. To get there, Ryu goes to a Circle of Flowers. Go to the Fairy Village. When there, a dolphin will be the reason for the complaints of light. The dolphin will attack Ryu. When this happens, use lightning on it to kill it, I used Eldritch, Thunder, and Thorn Genes. After defeating it, the Fairies will thank you, and later you will be able to build their town and get secrets from this. Helping them will give many hidden objects to help them along the way. Next Ryu will talk to Beyd in the town. He will tell Ryu that he needs to talk to Sinkar. Sinkar tells Ryu to go to Mt. Zubio and go through the Volcano. It is important that Nina joins the trip through the cave, because of her magical abilities. In the cave the Miracle Gene is hidden. When near the end of the cave, Ryu comes across an old man. He calls apon 2 Lava creatures. Ryu must kill the Lava creatures first then attack the old man. (Use the Frost dragon with Thorn and Eldritch). When on the other side, Garr will be back home. When Garr gets back to his Home Town, he will visit the Priest, and get another master. Afterward, he goes to the big stone, blocking the door, and pushes it. Then an old man tells Garr to go to the Angel Tower. He goes. There is a small pathway on the right side of the staircase. He goes through this, and there are two ways. The southern way leads to a dead end. They go up the stairs and go deep into the temple. When they come apon a room that has 4 Tiles, Garr tells the other party member to leave. It abides. Garr and Ryu talk, then Garr tells Ryu that he has to kill him. They fight, and Garr loses. It then pauses for, what I would say, 7 years. Garr has to go to a cave in the north, where a dragon has been causing trouble. He goes into the cave and finds Ryu. They join and go to the end of the cave. There is a mine cart with Dynamite on it. Garr can push this, just as long as the tracks are aligned how they need to be. When the cart blows up the boulder which was in the way, a Dead Dragon appears and attacks. They use Fire to kill this beast. After defeating this monster, Ryu gets the Shadow Gene. Another person appears and gives Ryu the Fusion Gene. After they escape from the Cave, Garr and Ryu get money for their troubles. After leaving, they go to the Ogre Trail. In this trail there are 3 Horseraddish plants. This is needed for later. Garr and Ryu come across a familiar WereTiger in the Trail. After the tiger escapes, Ryu and Garr leave the Trail. They go to the mountain. After the mountain, they are on Yrall Trail, but it is blocked off by Wyndia. They go to McNiel Village after they cannot get through. When in the village, they rest in the inn. The innkeeper asks them to take care of this WereTiger. They go to Rei's former hideout, and Ryu goes to the house alone. He finds Rei there, he is injured, and tells Ryu about why he has been doing this. It is for Revenge. He runs away telling Ryu that he will get revenge. Ryu and Garr then go back to McNiel, there they find that Mr. McNiel has been arrested and charged with smuggling foodstuffs through. Ryu and Garr meet Nina here. They then go to Wyndia Castle. They find out that Rei is after The people in Syn City and go after him. When they get to Syn City, they find it destroyed. They ask around, and find out that he chased the leader, Mikba, to the Checkpoint. Ryu follows. They find that Rei has cornered Mikba, but when Ryu appears, Mikba changes into a huge monster. He kills Rei. Ryu protects Rei and fights the monster. After killing Mikba, Rei joins the party, and they go to Wyndia. Along the way to Wyndia, Nina reallizes that her father will think that she has been kidnapped again, and asks that they take care of the trouble in the Plant. When there, they meet Momo, and she joins the party. She says that they need to get Peco. They travel to Yggdrasil and find Peco talking to the tree, but don't reallize that he is talking to it at the time. Peco joins and they return to the Plant. When there, They notice that some Chrysm gas has leaked into the greenhouses. Peco has to kick some rocks into them to release the Chrysm gas. Once the two houses have been broken, the plant itself releases some gas. Momo has to be in the party to shoot the fireplace. After a little way into the Plant, they come apon 4 computers. The passwords are Pelet, given immediately; Repsol, found in the Chrysm Filled room; AA, found on a letter hidden behind a vent; and on the 4th, it gives you choices, go to other, then do the only combination beginning with 1. Make sure to get the Force Gene hidden on the vents. I used had Peco and Momo in my party, and used Fusion, Fire, and Thorn Genes to defeat both of the bosses in this level. After defeating Shroom, they leave and go back to Wyndia. Nina goes with just Rei to talk to her father about getting Passports. There is a long scene there, and they finally escape again. Once they leave, they go to Rhapala again. They cross Mt. Zubio and go to Urkan Tapa. There, Garr is told to meet God again. He goes up to Angel Tower, but he only sees a Naked woman trapped in a Pyramid. She tells him to seek Gaist. He goes to the high priest and asks where Gaist lives. Garr is told that he lives past the tide area south of Rhapala. To get there, go south of Mt. Zubio and follow the narrow path. Once past the tide caves, which has the Gross Gene, Ryu and Garr will come apon a town that holds outcasts. Go to Gaist with Garr and Ryu, there will be a long scene, and Ryu will eventually have to fight him. To defeat him, use Frost, Thorn, and Force. This will give him Warrior with Ice powers. Use Frost breath on everything, and then after the flames have been put out, use Aura on Gaist, it should only take a couple Auras to kill him. After he is dead, go to his ashes and get the Beast Spear. Leave and go back to Angel Tower, go to the place where the naked woman was incased in the pyramid earlier in the game. She will be released and tells you to go to Mt. Zubio. Go to the strange Rune in the front of Mt. Zubio. Read it with Ryu, he will warp there. There will be another Scene there, listen to it, and then when it ends, go back to Rhapala. Talk to Shadis and she will tell Ryu that Beyd went to the other city to see about the ship. Ryu goes to the city and finds that Beyd wants to see his ship. Ryu follows and when he gets to the docks, he and Momo go. They talk to Beyd, and Momo reallizes that she can fix the ship. She needs parts from the beach to fix the ship, so Ryu and Garr go to the town, to talk to the Guild master to get permission to go to Steel Beach. On the beach, there is a man that tells Garr that if he can pull the item from the sea in, they can go into the ship. Garr and the man pull in the Monster, and Ryu and Garr fight it. They kill it, and all the pieces appear. There are 18 pieces i believe. Once all are collected, take them back to Momo, and she will take the ship to Rhapala. Once in Rhapala, they all get the ship from Beyd, but Zig is the Captain of the ship. They then go to the Outer Ocean. Once there, Zig cannot control the ship, and they go back. Zig claims that the "Legendary Mariner" is the only person who could make that journey. They go to a city called "Parch". The Mayor is supposed to know all about him. When there, the mayor refuses to talk, and wants to eat something other than fish. They all decide to go to Central Wyndia to find the food he is looking for. In Maekyss Gorge, there is a woman that tells Ryu how to make Sishu. He gets the ingredients. Horse Raddish- Found in Ogre Trail. Vinegar- Gotten in the cafè Mackeral- In the new fishing area. and Shally Berries- Found in the tree in Maekyss Gorge Talk to the woman after alot of each item is gotten. She will tell you how to make the Sishu. Go back to Parch. Make the Sishu by using the enough shally seeds to equal the size of mackeral. Add just a 2 horse raddish, and some vinegar. When he is fed, he will tell you how to get to the "Legendary Mariner". Go to the ? in the sea. When there, there are 2 treasures to get, Blizzard Armor and the Heavy Dagger, and the Legendary Mariner is located in the north-west corner. After talking to him, he tells Ryu to get on the Black Boat to get to the other side. Ryu and Momo decide the best way to get on the ship is to ram it from behind. When it is rammed, they go through it until they get to the control room. Momo stays and tells Ryu to go to the booster and tell her when it reaches 100. When it reaches 100, they take off. After a while, there is a crash, and Ryu has to fight 2 creatures called Ammonite. Kill them by using Warrior, and to help determine how much they have, use Venom Breath on them. Venom takes 1/10 of their energy, so their total hp can be determined from this. Use steal or pilfer on them because they give Moon Tears. After they die, Ryu and the party end up on the other side. They end up in a town. They leave the town and go toward the Steel Grave, then on to the Colony. In the colony, a they have to get the key from the portal. and once the key is gotten Momo and Ryu have to turn some mirrors so that a lazer will hit a fuse. once this is hit, it will open the portal. they go through the portal and end up back in the container ship. They go through the ship to the front, and exit. They decide to try to travel back through it, and see what they can find. They find out that they have to turn a radar toward the least static. Once this is done, they can choose where they want to go. They go to the container yard first, because of the Radiance gene. Then they go to Dragnier. In Dragnier, they talk to the elder, and he tells them that Ryu has to fight him. Once they fight, Ryu gets the Infinity Gene. Then they have to get through the factory and desert. Travel through the factory, and when they get to the other side, they find that there is a man there. The man lies about how to get to the other side. Follow the Fake North star for 4 days. Then go to the real north star. This will take you to The Oasis. Once there, go to Caer Xhan. Go through Caer Xhan, fight the many bosses, bring lots of Wisdom stuffs and magic curatives. Listen to the statues in Ryu's Dream. Get to Myria. Kill her with Warrior and the Were Tiger. GAME OVER!
