Some might say that a girl in a band
is supposed to have a precise status. The lead singer (or singer in
general), on guitar or even on keyboards. But on drums?! No way!!!
Well our dear Caroline Corr shattered that misguided conception. She
proved that a girl can play the drums just as well as a man (or even
better).
Caroline is the second eldest of the girls and the third shortest of
the four Corrs. She achieved something no girl has achieved
before...being one of the most talented drummers in the music world,
and she's not a man!! (pretty obvious, huh?:). Maybe you won't
believe me but when I say she is a hell of a drummer it's true. The
puts so much feeling in what she's doing and her skills and passion
on the bodhran are amazing.
Caroline is possibly the shiest of the four siblings but also the
most underestimated. She's the one who gets the least of the
spotlight being behind the drumkit all the time. The way Caroline
plays the drums is the main reason for the most of the Corrs'
negative criticism (which is by the way totally unfair). She is
definitely the best drummer and the cutest one aswell:))
Well, it's a different kind of cuteness. She has a bit more muscles
than her sisters because she's the drummer and drummers need muscles
in their arms. That's why she's not as skinny as Andrea or Sharon
(no offense!). Still, she is as beautiful as them (they do come from
the same family you know!:))
Just like her siblings, the musical talent runs through her veins.
When you see her thumping away on those drums you just can't believe
she's been playing drums only for a few years (because in case you
didn't know she originally played keyboards in the band). She
learned to play the drums at 17 following the instructions of a
boyfriend of hers.
Well, the instruments Caroline plays are the drums, the bodhran, the
piano and the tambourine ('Old Town'). One of her trade marks are
the black gloves she always wears during concerts. I think they're
golf gloves (!?) Well Caroline sure found what she was looking
for... good, comfortable, black gloves. The bodhran is a traditional
instrument which Caroline loves to play. She learned to play it from
watching a video tape (I have never seen such skills!!!). Her
bodhran is unique because of the 'Corrs' Celtic logo which many of
you must have noticed. Another instrument..the piano. Well, there's
nothing in the whole wide world to match the feeling you get when
you hear Caroline playing the piano on 'Runaway'. I believe that's
one of the reasons why 'Runaway' is so special to many of us.
Caroline, the shiest Corr deserves a certain admiration for the way
she handled the success and the fame. Unlike other young stars who
think they have the world at their feet (not to say that isn't true
of The Corrs LOL) she is the same mature and earthly person she was
before all this success. Her strength, confidence and talent are the
things that makes her the unique person that she is. And we should
appreciate her for that.
