My page of Books that Kick

(Or at least don't suck)

Warning: I read purely for STORY value, not for crappy meanings and lessons and symbolism.

IT

An interesting horror book. The coolest thing was how the characters had to fight IT (the unspeakable evil beneath the city) as children, and go back to kill It again as adults. But, instead of just making it two seperate conflicts, he has the characters return to kill It, but having forgotten the previous encounter. Then, as they go to destroy It, they remember what happened the first time, making an interesting sort of double climax. And, I felt like it ended well, and left me with some kinda message. When I read 1000 pages, I want an ending, by god.

The Chronicles
of Amber

Ok, these are only the coolest novels ever written. As fantasy goes, I found that things and characters created by Terry Brooks, David Eddings, and yes, even Tolkien were blending together. But, these books stood out from the rest. The plotline was cool, the concept was incredible, and, like all monsterous series' should, it ends awesomely. 'Course, the second five don't end at all, but, ahhh well.
The Hitch
Hiker's Guide
to the Galaxy
Ok, the one and only comedy Sci-Fi novel (worth reading, anyway.) The trilogy of books, with the big, friendly letter's saying "Don't Panic" on it, is awesome! The last two books suck. Hard. But the first three are hilarious.
Ender's Game
Quartet
These may be my favorite books ever. Ender's Game and Xenocide are both really, really good. If you only read one book this year, it should probably be something the school makes you read. But after that, its Ender's Game.
The Deeper
Meaning of
Liff
This is like nothing you've ever read. Its really funny stuff, and while it may never really aid you in real life, I think it is well worth at least looking through.
