Rail Shooters- Ryan - Sunday, 9/04/2000

Am I the only fan of Rail Shooters?
"Rail Shooters" are games like Virtua Cop, Time Crisis, and House Of The Dead, The Hive, Cyberia, ect. Every time they make one they always get bad reviews. Why? these games kick ass, you dont need to be able to control the character to have fun.
Think about it, if you have to go on a certain path, then they can script some really kick ass events that cant happen in a normal 1st person shooter. And what arcade game kicks more ass than Time Crisis 2 with 2 players? For those not familiar with it, Its just like Time Crisis (which is just like House Of The Dead or Virtual Cop, but you can duck behind things) but there are two of you, going on two different paths in the same level, there are plenty of times when you see the other character, for instance there is a big open plaza, your on one side and player 2 is on the other side, and there are all sorts of bad guys in the middle that you blast at.
Anyways I think that every single Rail Shooter has been way under-rated. I would be happy to see some better ones on the computer, Multiplayer support would be cool too.

Anarchy Online- Ryan - Friday, 9/02/2000

Tired of all the Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPGs) being set in the fantasy setting? Had enough Dragons, elves, and wizzards? (I personnaly am not, but I am still exited to see change)
Enter Anarchy Online. It is set in the future on an alien planet. I dont want to waste three pages tryign to explain it, so I urge you to check out IGN's Preview and watch the trailors.

Here Is a link to the two trailors, Small and Large. Might I suggest the Large?
Here Is a preview that will tell you what its all about.

Let me just point out two key points I thought were cool.
1-Every player starts out with an apartment in one of the high rise buildings.
2-You can go to a quest booth and it checks out your stats then gives you a mission to go on, This way every first level player isnt trying to hunt down the same treasure.
"The quest booths can also evaluate entire parties for appropriate quests, so a larger group may be assigned the task of destroying an entire clan or escorting a very important dignitary while lower-lever single characters may be sent to find a fairly common item or track down a street thug."

NeverWinter Nights... - Ryan - Friday, 9/02/2000

Four New Screenshots were released of what looks like the best RPG ever made. NeverWinter Nights Is brought to us by the same RPG gods in the sky who made Baulder's Gate, Planescape: Tourment, and Icewind Dale. This game looks better than all of the above for two reasons:
1 ) Its 3D.
2 ) It includes a Campaign Editor so you can make your own campaign, and have your friends log-in and play it, while you DM.

here is an older video from IGN, if you haven't seen it, its new to you.

Here Is one of the funniest things i have ever seen. "The Top 20 Famous Last Words" of Neverwinter Nights.

Message Board - Ryan - Friday, 9/01/2000

We are testing a Message Board to see how good/lame the idea is.

News - Ryan - Tuesday, 8/29/2000

I guess I have a Staph Infection? Sucks...
Anyways I was thinking about the greatest films I have ever seen and thought I would do an un-official top ten. I would like everyone to let me know thier opinion on it and let me know thier personal favorites.

#1 - Swingers
- Not only was it funny, well writen, and has the two coolest actors, but it influenced my life in the sense that it changed the way I think about some things.
It Also introduced me to the world of Swing Music, to which I am now a fan. On top of that I got a lot of slang from this movie, "Beautifull Babies" "Money" ect.,

#2 - 2001: A Space Oddessy
- Most awe-inspiring film I have ever seen. This movie above anything else on my list is truely a work of art. If you have not seen it I highly recommend renting it imeediately.

#3 - Aliens
- Part two in a series. A bunch of bad ass space marines battle Aliens, I need not say more.

#4 - The Shawshank Redemption
- Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman are in jail, they plan on breaking out.

#5 - Terminator 2
- Pure Quality action movie. Robots, Sniper Rifles, Motorcycle/Semi-Truck/Helicopter Chases, and minimal amounts of Hollywood BS.

#6 - Office Space
- Funniest movie I have ever seen- No questions asked.

#7 - Starship Troopers
- What has been described as " A 'B' Movie with a Hollywood budget!" Aliens, Space Marines, Machineguns, Dropships, Explosions, And a Hot Chick or two. Read the book if you have a chance too!

#8 - Total Recall
- Good story and action

#9 - Saving Private Ryan
- War....

The list stops here for now. I dont know what to put next. I thought Fight Club, but remembered how boreing it was the third time I saw it. Then there are those movies that I think would be on here, but I have only seen them once, Like Magnolia, Boogie Nights, Hudsucker Proxy, Good Will Hunting and Three Kings...

Pure Skill Based Action - Ryan - Tuesday, 8/29/2000
I purchased Quake III Arena (Q3A) for $39.99. I figured it was worth it, with the recent release of Rocket Arena 3 (RA3) and the soon-to-be released Quake III Mission Pack Which will add more team-based action.

RA3 is a lot of fun. It has a built-in mp3 player and about 14 kick ass mp3s to listen to while battleing. You can also easily add your own mp3s to the playlist. I will post a full review of RA3 in about a week, but for now it looks like its deffinately a Thumbs Up!

Spam - Ryan - Tuesday, 8/29/2000

I must be the luckiest guy in the world because every freggin day I win a vacation.
SPAM, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways
I get soo many emails that dont even have a "click here to be removed" thing on the bottom!
I especialy hate it when they say "there is no need to be removed from any lists, this is a one time mailing" AHHH!! I hate those more than anything.
Actually I don't, what I hate more than anything is these stupid poems i get from people, saying how good a friend I am, and then it says to send it to all your friends, and see if they send you one back. If you want to tell me I am a good friend just tell me yourself, Dont have some other person do it in a poem. I never send those things back because anyone who sends me shit like that obviously isnt a real friend.

A long time ago I sent a big two-paged letter about how stupid spam is and how i hate it. It was really well-written. If I recall correctly it involved Santaclause, Victoria Secret catalogs, and Midgets who sailed the seven seas. If anyone still has a copy of that email i'd like to see it again.
I remember in P.E. Class someone who i had never met before exlaimed-"Are you Ryan Dormanesh?.. Someone sent me an email that you had wrote, your crazy!" Or some similar remark.

Brother Ed will be vacating our sector of the world to take a magical, mystical journey into the nether-regions of Mexico. He will be gone for a period of two years, during which he will bring good will and prosperity to all that cross his path. Ed is best known for his mad linux skillz and plentiful supply of free computer magazines with missing covers. Will the village people need help with linux, and will the young children be interested in 2600? Time will tell my friend, time will tell.

In memory of Mk-Ultra - Ryan - Sunday, 8/27/2000

Tommorow Ed Burket (mk-ultra) Leaves to go on his Mission. He will come back in Two years as a "RM", or as he once told me, a 'Return Missionary.'
(Legend has it, that chicks dig the RM's)
If you do not know who Mk-Ultra is, You havent been to very many LanParties (Netmeets) because is a frequent (and always welcomed) guest.... If you dont know who he is, you havent been around when I am stressing out over some HTML tags for this site, because he is always there to lend a hand.

You will always be a good friend, and will not be forgotten.

Have Fun!

311 - Ryan - Sunday, 8/27/2000

Although its a little late because no one really has those dumb buttons anymore- I stumbled across the anybrowser campaign and thought it was kinda cool.

Too bad Lynx is the most advanced broswer and this page is optimized for it.

Hobbies/Interesets - Ryan - Sunday, 6/05/1983
I consider myself to be somewhat of a trend setter.
For example, I was interested in Paintball since Junior High. Once I got a few of my friends to buy guns and played once or twice, everyone I knew got into it. Now I am not going to say that I am single handedly resposible for paintballs sudden growth in popularity, but you know what I mean.
Videogames are another thing, not on quite as large of a scale, because everyone has already played videogames. But I think that I got several people much more into videogames than they used to be.
I think that I discover a lot of things because I have an open mind. Pokemon for instance. I Didn't just hate pokemon like almost every teenager in the world, just because its a kids thing. I looked at it with an open mind, played the videogame, and realized that it actually wasnt that bad.
Yet another example was the movie Titanic. Everyone automatically hates the movie just because Leonardo Decaprio is in it, and girls like it. It seems that everyone is so insecure with thier masculinity that they CANT see a movie with him in it, in fear of realizing they are gay? Another reason people hated the movie before even seeing it was because they thought that they already knew the story- "The boat sinks. Let me ask you a question, If I told you that I fell in love with some chick on a big unsinkable boat that sunk and she ended up dieing in my hands, Would you not want to hear anything else from me just because you already knew that the boat sank? No way, I would totaly be interested and would want to hear everything. Anyway I could talk for hours about that movie and why people hate it but it'd be a waste of space..

Anyway back to the topic of trend setting- For some reason when it comes to music, no one wants to hear what I have to say! So the point of writing all of this is to let it be known that (not that anyone cares) my new interest is Swing music!

X-Box, And Game Cube (Dolphin)- Ryan - Tuesday, 8/22/2000
Nintendo had announced the real name of The Dolphin, and its the Nintendo Game Cube.
Sounds dumb if you ask me, I'd prefer if they went Nintendo (8), Super Nintendo (16), Ultra Nintendo (64), then something like Mega Nintendo (128).

You can see pictures of the Game Cube and its controlers Here.
You can see video of the Game Cube in action HERE

Microsoft Has sent X-Box development kits to game developers. The development kits need to have the same hardware/software as the actuall machine, but dont nesesarily have to be the same shape/size.
The X-Box development kits run on a "radically stripped down version of the Windows2000 operating system" (Daily Radar) but uses the Xbox dashboard instead of the Windows GUI.

MP3 Of The Week - Ryan - Tuesday, 8/22/2000
The MP3 of the week- Dido - Thank You.
Runners up
ZZ Top-La Grange, and Mr. Bungle-Retrovertigo

My teas gone cold I'm wondering why
I got out of bed at all.
The morning raindrops on my window
And I can't see at all.
And even if I could it'd all be grey,
But your picture on my wall,
It reminds me that its not so bad
Its not so bad.

I drank too much last night, got bills to pay,
My head just feels in pain
I miss the buss and there will be hell to pay,
Im late for work again and even if i'm there
That'll all imply that I might not last the day
And then you call me and its not so bad,
Its not so bad.

Out On The Powel - Ryan - Tuesday, 8/22/2000
Does anyone still watch The Real World?

I usualy dont watch TV but I watched Big Brother today, and afterwards I watched The Real World, its funny how similar they are. I hadnt watched The Real Workld in a LONG time, the last time I was actually paying attention to what was going on was when they had that guy 'Puck' and they kicked him out, then he came back and stuff. That Puck guy was actually my old boss's cousin, but oh well. Anyway the show is pretty cool, There is like one kinda cool guy (the guy with the bleeched spiked hair) and then there is one cool chick (the chick from hickville or whatever) and everyone else is totaly lame. Its funny how stupid people on there are, especialy that chick that thinks she is Black but looks Mexican!
Well anyway I guess its on weekdays after Big Brother, whenever that is, so check it out sometime.

Perils - Ryan - Saturday, 8/19/2000
I just finished the John C. Reilly fan site.
Here is the link.

New Site?- Ryan - Friday, 8/18/2000
I think I am going to make a John C. Reilly fan site. (Because he is the greatest actor ever)
If You dont know who he is you gotta see Perfect Storm, Magnolia, and Boogie Nights. And if you have seen those and still dont know who he is-find out.
I am not related to, and have never met John C. Reilly.

Vote Bob 2000- Ryan - Thursday, 8/17/2000
Nothing new, starting school on Monday. Went paintballing at Tombstone last night. Fun, but day games are better, just gotta hack the weather.
Had to install linux on a system at work and gnome is pretty cool so i am going to try and install it at my house tonight.

Vote Bob 2000- Ryan - Sunday, 8/13/2000
Damn this weekend sucked. I worked 1/2 day of Friday and it made the weekend seem much shorter.. Because it was!
Anyhow my brother is running for office, so if you see my last name on the ballot vote for him!

I am sure that everyone must have already known this, but since I learned through experience i will tell you. If your just meeting someone, dont go on a date to the movies, you sit with each other for three hours, and dont even talk.

Vote Lex 2000- Ryan - Wednesday, 8/9/2000
I played the demo of Star Trek: Elite Force. I have only seen one or two Star Trek movies and thought they were just average. But this game is deffinately above average. Too bad it uses the Q3 engine and not Unreal's. Well the story is good, the acting is good, and the special effects are good. Note how I say special effects, because playing this game you feel like you are watching a movie.
My first complaint is that they added a move where you can lean to the left or right (which just about any game has, but it wasnt in Q3?) and it is the cheesyest looking thing that i've ever seen. Why cant you lean in the Q3 engine? I dont get it. The Unreal Tournament engine lets you lean fine.
My second complaint is the running/walking. If you leave Always Run on its unfomfortable, because its not a constant action game, sometimes you are walking around talking to people or looking at stuff, it makes it very unrealistic if your always running around. Also if your up on a high place its hard to keep yourself from falling off if your runnning all over the place. You can't just hold down shift because then you'd be holding down shift a good percentage of the time.

Windows ME - Ryan - Wednesday, 8/9/2000
"Windows ME? They are making a new one already?"
That is what I asked my self when I saw the review for Windows ME posted on gamespy.com. I didn't realize the ME was Millenium Edition, and I had already heard about it.
OFF TOPIC- Man, pirating software is easy, I heard about this new windows and 24 hours later i installed it, didnt pay a dime, I had to reformat my computer so once i was up and running i wanted some mp3s, about five minutes later I had the top 10 most requested KROQ songs. Didnt even have to install any [Napster-Like]Program thanks to I-Drive and Scour.com.

So I went from Windows 95 to 98 to 2000 and now to Windows Me, and I have liked every one of them besides 2000. Not that 2000 wasnt cool just the little bugs annoyed me... Like the one that didnt let me turn off my computer for example.. Or that one that crashed my web browser every 3 minutes.

Little Things- One little thing that pisses me off is that when you right click on things, or click on the start menu, it SLIDES in, and dosent FADE in like win2k did. The Fading might not have sounded like much, but it looked like magic when i hit the Start button then tapped up a few times and went to Run. Before the start menu had even fully appeared it started to disapear but the "Run" was still in blue fading out a little slower.... Hmm, mabey it wasnt that cool, but I liked it.

Games. Of course you get the old, but still badass, Solitare, Minesweep, and 3D Space Cadet. They kept Freecell and Hearts in, even though they sucks ass. But they added Spyder Solitare, and games you can play on the internet (chess, spades, some others).... Oh yeah, and Halo comes with it too.

They got rid of DOS so now boot-times are around 15 seconds... All together from pressing Restart I'd estimate it takes 20-30 seconds to get back to the desktop, and for the loading icon to go away (loading-in-background-mouse-icon)

I had to download my Voodoo3 drivers, it did everything else automatically.

It is a lot more like 98 than it is like 2000. For example the add/remove programs thing dosent tell you if you use the programs frequently or rarely, like 2000 does. And when you do the three-fingured-salute it just goes to the Close menu, instead of all that other stuff NT/2K has.

Also when you right click on the desktop and go to new it dosent lag at all, the icons pop up right away. In some other Windows versions it took a while for it to load.

I've probobly just reviewed the most un-important parts of the operating system, if you want to know what makes it tick ask someone who cares.

Adios

The Replacements - Ryan - Thursday, 8/2/2000
It has come to my attention that Jon Favreau (Mike, from Swingers) is going to be in The Replacements. So now I want to see it.. But Keanu Reeves, i dont know if i will be able to stand it. Mabey I'll give my money to a high calibur film like Coyote Ugly (Check out the story on that one) and sneak into Replacements..

I havent talked about videogames in a while so I think i will do that now. Nothing good is out. C-Strike just keeps getting older and older. Some games are starting to use the lame ass Quake3 engine. Heavy Metal FAKK2K and KISS: Psyco Curcus. Both games apparently suck. I played the Kiss demo and its nothing more than DOOM with better graphics. FAKK2K dosent appear to break any new ground either. A review from gamespy said that it only takes 6 hours to beat, and there is no multiplayer..

I havent posted anything lately... Basicly everything has sucked since the last posts, and being that the last few posts were just about how bad my days were, things have been bad for a while now... (example- crashed a car (not too serious), got rejected by a beautiful baby). Seeya.

Today sucked - Ryan - Wednesday, 7/26/2000
Prologue-
1- About a year ago America Online bought nullsoft and mirabilis (the makes of Winamp and ICQ, respectively)
2- Napster is a program you all know of that basicly makes it easy for people to exchange mp3 files (songs).
I had been downloading mp3's for 2 years before napster was around but ever since i discovered it I never used anything else, simply because every song i could possibly want was available to download at an average of 50kbps.
3- I like to have the newest software, always. Example- Even though Windows 2000 slows down the games that I play, and has several other bugs, I still prefer having it over any other release of windows, simply because it is the newest. With this same logic any time a new version of a program comes out I download it. Some programs have a feature called Auto-update, which will automaticaly download new versions of its program, sometimes without even telling you.

-End Prologue-

Today is a day that I will probobly remember for all my life.
Worked was good today, although the guys i usualy go to lunch with left without me and I had to go to Carl's J by myself. While i was there two other people who came by themselves just so happend to sit next to me, and the three of us started conversing. One guy was 27 the other was 31. After talking about random things for a while one guy asked my age and when i told them 17 both of them said that they would have guessed i was about 25 and that I should go try to buy beer.
That was kind of interesting but thats not the reason that I will remember today.
A few months ago with the release of ICQ 2000, AOL (mirabilis, whoever) silently removed the option to allow you to disable auto-update. Today, on Wednesday July 26th, ICQ 2000's auto update function automatically updated ICQ, with this update, every time you send a URL link, there is an Advertisement at the bottom of the program. Up untill this day there were never any advertisements on ICQ, this reason alone is enough for many people to use it over ICQ's rival AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). When i asked a friend of mine Chezz why he uses ICQ over AIM the one and only reason he had (and a good one) was the big fat advertisements all over AIM. It is very easy to install an older version of ICQ, or hack your way around the ad's in the new one, but nevertheless, it still sucks ass.
Also today our United States court system shut down Napster, (i think it will be open untill 4 tommorow morning, then down for good). Again, it is easy to find a way around this and download mp3's nearly just as easy, but nevertheless, it still sucks ass.

Death Sucks - Ryan - Tuesday, 7/18/2000
Payday... What is normaly the best day of the week.

I was late for work so i was speeding.. I guess i just wasnt paying enough attention because the car in front of me was going a lot slower than I, it didnt seem like i was going to stop in time, i kept pushing the breaks harder and harder but was still really close....then my back wheels locked up and i sorta fishtailed. Smoke came out of my back tires just like in the videogames. The car in front of me just barely started speeding up...ended up just barely stopping in time, it was crazy...
I think if i realized what was going on 2 seconds slower i would have got in a serious accident.
This of course, started to get me thinking about dying. Ohh how bad it would have sucked. I thought about saying something like "i would rather die, than die this young" only there is nothing worse than death to compare it to..

Ironically, Newton also had a near death experience today.

P.S.- I thought about the movie X-Men, and i dont think it was that bad. I withdraw my post about saying it sucked, and would now recommend it.

DreamCast - Ryan - Saturday, 7/17/2000
Rather than writing reviews let me tell you what games suck and what games dont.

BAD- Ecco The Dolphin (Defender Of The Future), Industrial Spy (Operation Espionage), Virtua Striker 2, Super Magnetic Neo, and Snow Surfers.

MEDIUM- Re-Volt, Crazy Taxi, Gundam Side Story: 0079, Fur Fighters, Silver, and Mr. Driller.

GOOD- Virtua Tennis, Dead Or Alive 2, and Jet Set Radio.

Adios!

X-Men - Ryan - Saturday, 7/17/2000
First of all, I have never read a single X-Men comic book and have never seen an episode of the cartoon. This is a good thing as far as I'm concerned because this movie sucked. If your a big X-Men fan you might like it, but otherwise save your money. There was some good looking girls, Famke Janssen and Halle Berry. But Halle Berry is the worst actress I've ever seen (And so i hear, she isnt good at driving either)! Its impossible to belive a word she says. And speaking of hard to belive- Magneto (the vilian) only has three people on his side! Im sure he could have hired a few thugs that spray machine gun bullets but never hit anyone like in every other action movie.
The story was the typical 'Bad guy has elaborate plan and Good guys must stop him,' of course there is some bullshit lovestory thrown in as well.

The Future Of Attac - Ryan - Wednesday, 7/12/2000
Today I had a conversation with a representative (Mr. Vickers) from our main sponsor Jackasp.net. It appears that there is indeed some slight chance that the quality ranting that is Attac, be spread to the good people of this community via television cables everywhere.

Napster it- Ryan - Tuesday, 7/11/2000
Carl Orff - Carmina Burana - O Fortuna

Arrh, Matey- Ryan - Sunday, 7/9/2000
I was going to come on here and complain about all those damn people that pirate software (lots of awesoem developers are going out of buisness cause they arent making enough money, Gathering Of Developers, Looking Glass, ect.,) If you think about it, people that play the GOOD games are the ones that are more likely to pirate them (quake, halflife, unreal, whatever) but the poeple who play LAME games (Dear Hunter, Barny's Big Adventure) are the ones who are actually going to buy them. So it would make more sense for big shots to make lame games.
Anyway now that its possible to play burnt Dreamcast games i've changed my mind, hehe. Jet Set Radiorocks.

Purple Monkey Dishwasher - Ryan - Wednesday, 5/28/2000
I got a job at Ware And Malcomb (architects). Been pretty busy so not too many updates.
Diablo 2 came out, Havent got around to it yet. Its getting perfect reviews-What a surprise, I swear i didnt know that would happen three years ago when they started totaly overhyping it.
Any game that uses the Infinity (Baldur's Gate) engine is a better rpg than Diablo 2 by far. I am unnegotiable on this.

In the movie scene Titan A.E. got 0wned at the box office just like the zillion other good movies that just dont get hyped. Thats all the industries are these days, hype. You steal an idea, make a movie/game, have the suits tell the producers what to do, hype the crap out of it, send it off to production before your done, rake in the dough. Oh yeah- have some crappy ads too. HAve you looked at any advertisement lately? THEY ALL SUCK. That is another industry that needs some work.

Microsoft 0wnz Bungie - Ryan - Tuesday, 5/20/2000
Well you guys best be bowing down to Microsoft now. They bought Bungie.
Hmm, lets see. Make Halo on both the PC and X-box, or just the X-box so that every halo dreaming bastard out there will run and buy an X-box as well as a copy of Halo (instead of just a pc copy of it)?

I'm Ryan Dragonslayer and thats my rant for the day.

Sh00l - Ryan - Sunday, 5/18/2000
I have been getting owned by finals lately. But as long as I dont completely fail them I am graduating on Thursday! Lanparty Friday. Its NOT going to last all weekend like some of you crazy bastards might want, on saturday I am going to bust some serious Icewind Dale roleplaying in the woods.

So S.W.A.T for Unreal Tournament came out, Its basicly trying to be counter-strike, and basicly,,, it is. Only the graphics are 10 times better.
Deus Ex demo was released. Damn that game is nice. Mabey because it uses the Unreal engine instead of Quake's. Or mabey its because there is actually a story. Or mabey because its also a roleplaying game. Or mabey-JUST MABEY- its because its actually fun to play.

I'm Ryan Dragonslayer and thats my rant for the day.

Titan A.E. - Ryan - Friday, 5/14/3029
Definately Big Newport unless of course they are idiots and put Shaft on the big screen in which case we picket outside the theater with signs and rakes (j/k).

View Askew - Ryan - Wednesday, 5/7/2000
The movies these guys make get progressively worse. They also get progressively higher budgets. First there was Clerks, with such a low budget it was filmed in black and white, and it was great. Then came Mallrats, which was good, but not nearly as memorable as Clerks. Then Chasing Amy, which sucked. And then Dogma, which i recently rented on video. Dogma is the ultimate worst out of all of them, its so boreing i didnt even watch the end, no matter how funny the ending is it cant make up for the hour and a half of sucky boringness. Also, these guys keep putting more and more of a story into thier movies. Anyway the Clerks tv show kicks ass, watch it. Its on Wednesdays at 9:30.

Conspiracy? - Ryan - Saturday, 6/1/2000
The wierd graph thing is back on tv and crazier than ever, its constantly spiking. If you dont remember what happened was that it was on 112, then i think they caught on to me and changed it to 118, I couldnt find it for a while, but now it is back, and theres an even higher-tech graph on 117.

Meet - Ryan - Wednesday, 5/31/2000
Graduation party at my house on the 24th, if all goes to plan.

Small Time Crooks - Review - Monday, 5/29/2000
<12><34><56><78>< >
I have always wondered why only childrens movies are in the 'Family' section. I do not enjoy movies like The Land Before Time 5, and i am party of the family. Small Time Crooks is a movie that any age can enjoy. There is a small period of the movie that is a little boring, but the rest is non-stop laughs. Forget about John Woo and give your money to someone who deserves it, Woody Allen!

Meet - Ryan - Saturday, 5/20/2000
Paintball on Sunday.

Firework Factory - Ryan - Saturday, 5/13/2000
Although it has nothing to do with games, a Dutch fireworks factory exploded today. It was started by a "blaze" inside that triggered several explosives. More than 20 people have died and more than 175 were hurt.

E3 - Ryan - Thursday, 5/11/2000
There was a change of plans and I went to E3 Today! Although there wasnt as much free stuff that I thought there would be it was still fun. I got just about every videogame magazine, some videogame candy/mints, flyers, some buttons, and pictures of me with hot chicks and videogame characters.

The best game there of course was Halo. Bungie had a realatively small booth but it was all one enclosed theater/room/show thing. I had to wait in line for about 12 minutes and then I got to see the show, and man was it elite. The presenter guy played a little to prove that it was really a game, and not just a bunch of FMV's. The weapons they had so far were a shotgun, chain gun, sniper rifle, and mortor-thingy. Then there was this long video that was made entirely with the in-game engine, they just scripted characters and scripted camera moves, so "everything you see in the video you will be able to do in the game!" There were some Aliens gaurding a base, talking in an alien language with subtitles. Then there was a big dropship with humans (actual humans, not those guys in the green mech suits. They were basicly the most realistic looking humans ever in a videogame). They said things like "Are You Ready!" "Sir! Yes Sir!" ahh man, it was way too good for words to explain. The humans invaded and there were all sorts of crazy battles and explosions happening. The humans seemed to be allied with the green armor guys.
It was real life man, anything that would have happened in real life did. Example- This one guy was standing on a platform in a building without a rail on it, He got shot a few times and fell down so that half of his body was hanging over the edge and it pulled the other half down and he fell off.
There was this one cool part- a human was running in the base and was getting shot at so he ducked and strafed behind this motorcycle thing then he came back around and blasted the alien. Ahh man, like I said- Too good for words.

I have two passes still. I think I want to go back on Saturday, anyone want to go with?

Oh yeah, and Warcraft 3 was the lamest shit i've ever seen. They completely 100% ruined it.

E3 - Ryan - Monday, 5/8/2000
If everything goes to plan, I will disguise myself as Alexander Salcedo, Asst Systems Techician of Midway Home Entertainment and get into E3 on saturday.

BG2 - Ryan - Sunday, 5/7/2000
Baldur's Gate 2 is going to blow Diablo 2 out of the water.

Gladiator - Review - Sunday, 5/7/2000
<12><34><56><7 >< >
The movie wasn't as good as I expected it to be. There are some really cool battle scenes. The problem was that it was about 3 hours long and the story could have been told in an hour and a half.

GLADIATOR! - Ryan - Friday, 5/5/2000
Gladiator tonight at Big Newport! It starts at 10, I'll be there around 7:45, I dont know how crowded its going to get or if its going to sell out so if you want to go get there whenever sounds reasonable to you. See you there!
(Review will be posted saturday morning)

Defcon - Ryan - Tuesday, 4/25/2000
So who is going to defcon? Who wants to ride with me and pitch in for gas? Vegas Baby, Vegas!

Swingers - Ryan - Tuesday, 4/25/2000
Swingers is the best movie ever made. The greatest scene is when Double-Down calls Mikey on the phone and invites him to go to Vegas.
"We're going to Vegas"
"Vegas, what Vegas?"
"Vegas, Las-Vegas."
"Im not going to no Vegas-"
"-Alright I listened to you now hear me out!"
"Okay"
"You bring something nice to wear"
This may of may not be the exact words in the movie but it is fairly close.

Dreamcast - Ryan - Monday, 4/24/2000
This website is proudly 100% Sega Dreamcast Web Browser compatible. Thats right, I 0wn one and I am a hyprocrite.

U-571 - Ryan - Sunday, 4/23/2000
I went to Big Newport on opening night and saw U-571. It was a good, above average, submarine movie. If you want to see it, go for it, it rocks. If you think its going to suck stay at home and save nine bucks.

Beta6 - Ryan - Tuesday, 3/21/2000
I don't know what the nay-sayers are smoking when they talk bad about Counter-Strike Beta6. It seems like every time a new version comes out people are crying about how much worse they made it. I hated this game when I first saw it back in Beta3, But have hated it less and less with every new release. Beta5 was just barely playable on my scale. I would still rather play TFC than CS, but I think Beta6 is the first one worth the time.

CS - Matt - Sunday, 3/12/2000
I'll kick your sorry ass!

Challengers? - Newton - Thursday, 3/9/2000
I KICK ASS AT COUNTER-STRIKE, THE BEST GAME ON EARTH!

Big Newport - Ryan -Tuesday, 3/7/2000
Big Newport (Newport Big, to some) is located across the street from Fashion Island, in Newport Beach. It holds the largest movie theater on the West side of the United States. It has become a tradition of the locals to arrive to movies and form a line extremely early. Bigger movies call for bigger and earlier lines. So next time its opening night of a big movie, you can meet me there, i ought to have a decent space in line.

Wonder Boys - Ryan -Tuesday, 3/7/2000
I went to the movies planning on seeing Reindeer Games, but the times didn’t work out so I decided to see Wonder Boys instead. It looked all right from the previews. Ohh man did it suck! The one or two little jokes that they have in the preview end up being the entire movie. It was extremely boring, don’t see it.

UniBalls - Ryan -Tuesday, 3/7/2000
Looking for some free online games the other day, I came accross Uniball. This game is similar to ARC. You fly around in a spaceship, only in this one instead of having guns you play with balls. You can play football, dodgeball, and some others. It is pretty fun for some quick action

Welcome - Ryan - Monday, 3/6/2000
This new website is the money, baby!
