Everything we say, do, hear, and see in our daily lives effect the way we
think about the world around us. Christians are constantly finding
themselves stumble and sometimes falling in their walk with God.
Christians on Campus is here to help. Christians on Campus is a club
where Christians can hang around with other Christians. We keep our club
free from all the negative influences that are out in our campus. At the
same time we try to reach out to the people on campus and show them what being a
Christian in all about.
Our School
Christians on Campus is a club in John A. Rowland High School. We are
located in the city of Rowland Heights in Southern California. Our school
has a diverse student population as well as a diverse teacher population from
all backgrounds. Each club has a teacher/advisor who assists in the club
when it is necessary.
The Leaders
Although all the leaders of Christians on Campus work together, we do have
individual people assigned to do certain tasks and look over certain things in
our club. To find out how this people where chosen, please refer to the
Christians on Campus Constitution.
The Constitution
To become a recognized club on our campus each club must submit a
constitution to the ASB (Assorted Student Body) Office. The constitution
states the purpose of the club, how things within the club are run, and how the
leaders are elected. Here is a copy of Christians on Campus' Constitution:
We the people of Christians on
Campus, in order to ensure that this organization is best equipped to serve its
people within and reach God's people outside for Christ, have formed the
following...
I. LEADERS
New leaders are appointed by existing
leaders in June and upon appointment enter a mentoring system for a year before
they can maintain the position on their own.
In the event that a leader can no
longer hold their position, or chooses to no longer hold their position, during
the year, a new leader may be chosen by this or other leaders.
Nevertheless, this new leader must work in close contact with the other leaders
in order to promote the most unified core possible. This is of utmost
importance to the success of the organization and the capabilities of its
leaders.
II. MEMBER REQUIREMENTS
There is never to
be a list that mandates attendance or denies attendance. In order to
achieve our goals it is always in the best interest of this club to keep its
meetings open to anyone who would attend. This part of the constitution cannot
be amended.
It is further suggested that
promotions be done to appeal to the entire body of Christ...all denominations,
Catholics included. This is to create the most unity within the body of
Christ at Rowland as possible.
III. MEETINGS
Meetings are generally held twice a
week...one meeting is open to (and held for) the entire club, but the other is
meant for leaders in order to make decisions and plan upcoming events, etc.
Meetings are open to the "creativity" of leaders but must always be run in the interest to
promote Christ, and encourage and build up the body within. Outside
speakers are always an option.
IV. OUTSIDE SPEAKERS
Outside speakers are recommended on
the sporadic basis, but these speakers must have been either interviewed
previously or completely supported by one or more of the leaders. This is
in the best interest of the members because it is never in the interest of this
club to promote anything the bible itself (God) wouldn't uphold.
V. MAJOR EVENTS
These are meant to promote unity
within the club and its members and, thus, are to be voted on by the members
themselves whenever possible.
VI. MEMBERS' SUGGESTIONS
Since it is the desire of this club
to serve its members in everything, members ought to always have the option of
suggesting reasonable change of policies or specifics. As a result, a
system is recommended to make this possible. At any rate, this must be
announced to members.
This constitution
can be amended in all but the specified area. Such amendments must be done
with a 2/3 majority within the general members and the voting opportunity must
be announce prior to the meeting. All amendments must be supported by at
least a majority of the leaders.
This constitution in its original
form was signed by (current) leaders on April 5, 2000 and approved by general
members prior to submission.
