Redstring's Repertoire
Red versus Red.
In the Battle of Hidden Harbour, the Caller wizard Graige summoned many creatures to do his bidding. One of them was a red-scaled dragon. Eventually, I was brought face to face with this monstrous wyrm, and forced to do battle with it.
With a little help from my friends, and just by the skin of my teeth, I defeated the dragon. Laugh if you will, but you'd better not laugh too long, or I'll take it as an insult. You better believe me, too, but if you don't, you can go to Rayal City, or Washman, if you like, and ask to see the official records of the Battle of Hidden Harbour. But if that's what it would take to convince you, then don't stay for the song. I wouldn't want to waste my breath, now would I?
Here's how you sing along: The last two lines in a chorus are the first two lines in the next chorus. You sing the first part of the chorus and I'll sing the last part. After two verses, you'll understand.
Fly away, dragon!
Don't you know we hate you?
Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you. This striking voice of mine they say
Makes dragons hold their breath.
I met upon a wyrm one day
That threaten'd me with death.Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you.
Fly away, dragon!
Pray that he will let you.The dragon's power lies in fear,
Yet I wouldn't run away.
You see my dear, I've tricks in here,
And I used them all that day.Fly away, dragon!
Pray that he will let you.
Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you. This dragon, red, breath-ed fire,
Snarl'd and snapp'd and roar'd.
But of his noise, his show entire,
I quickly grew quite bored.Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you.
Fly away, dragon!
I've not come to pet you.He had sharp teeth and fearsome claws,
And leather wings of might.
He used those wings to the cause,
Of flying from the fight!Fly away, dragon!
I've not come to pet you.
Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you.Truth to tell, I've not seen him since
We fought as red 'gainst red.
But of my tricks, if he thinks
I've no more then he'll be dead!Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you.
Fly away, dragon!
Don't you know we hate you?Come dragons, I will take on more,
Be they one or twenty-two.
However, so it's not a bore,
I hope the next one's blue!Fly away, dragon!
Don't you know we hate you?
Fly away, dragon!
Redstring's come to get you.
