vorzakk technical manual
VORZAKK TECHNICAL MANUAL PROPOSAL
By LtC. Gregory Lam Stardate 59801.1
Chief Engineer, USS Vorzakk
I've written up a proposal of amendments and extensions to the original
specifications of the USS Vorzakk, which we will call V-Tech.
You see, one of my main concerns (shared by my captain) was that the
Vorzakk was a little too powerful. With permission, I would like to
develop a second, official technical specification of our fine ship.
For people who know me, I'm the author of R-Tech, the chief engineer of
the Vorzakk, former chief of the Roddenberry and a junior Eng. on the
late Cochrane, and a really AR guy when it comes to technical detail
(I was one of those people who noticed Zefram Cochrane's name was misspelled
in the First Contact credits, and that there's a typo in the Trekclub's
Anastas Medal)
This document should be only for:
a) Vorzakk crewmembers
b) Starfleet Command, and admirals
Anyone else is free to read on, but be forewarned that the below may
contain spoilers. In the RPG, no one but the above should know any
of this information - or the existence of the Vorzakk "as is" at all,
for that matter. To all whom it does not concern, I suggest the Vorzakk is
registered as an Akira Class vessel, NCC-79000. So if you read on, act
surprised later, K? PLEASE NOTE the ST:Repulse site requires Alpha-1
clearance to access Vorzakk records.

General Overview-
Phasers: The Vorzakk's phasers are a new prototype model.
They are a design from the Federation called Phase-inverts
class XII phasers. There are six phaser banks on the USS Vorzakk.
The primary phaser banks contain capillary connections
throughout the surface of the ship, allowing phased energy to be emitted
from most surface areas. This is to explain the fact the ship had
weapons phaser fire "from every point conceivable, energy of unbelievable
destructive force [erupting] toward the missile." (ZFC #20)
Trilithium Missiles: The trilithium missiles are an branch-off of
photon torpedoes. They were first used on the USS Vortex.
The missiles offer a more destructive range, giving a considerable
advantage to the Vorzakk's defense. A standard compliment of 10 are onboard
the USS Vorzakk.
Photon Torpedoes: Regular class "Mark VI" torpedoes.
There is a compliment of 50 onboard the Vorzakk.
Most trilithium missiles were used to stop 2 Romulan cruise
missiles en route to Earth. Of course, we are unable to restock,
and they were replaced with conventional photorps.
The Vorzakk can also produce its own ordnance, but only in a
limited fashion. The onboard antimatter generator's output only allows for
five photorps/quantorps a month (in addition to antimatter used on P/AM
Trilithium is given off as a sort of by-product of the M/AM engines,
enough to be used on 3 or 4 tritorps a month.
Plasma Cannon: A new weapon first used aboard the USS
Nova. The cannon has to be used at full stop and all major
systems at minimal because of the power needed to generate
a plasma burst. The burst would have a high energy burst of
power which could render any ship neutral. Another asset to
the USS Vorzakk's defense.
Post-fire operations require cold startup of all drained systems,
meaning a 10-20 minute pause in major power-intensive operations (propulsion,
tactical, etc.)
Anti-matter cloaking device: a prototype model first used on
the USS Vortex. The device pulls atoms apart in every mass
of substance and converts them into a new energy and the
ship can fire phasers when they are cloaked with this new
model aboard the Vorzakk.
The cloaking device was initially seized by Starfleet Command and
archived at the Daystrom Institute, but has since been reinstalled.]
Regenerating shields: These shields were first used inboard
the USS Vortex. These shields absorb the phaser power and
are used for regeneration, same with torpedoes.
Warp engines: New engines from Daystrom Institute entitled
Hyervirtual 360, which do not use dilithium crystals, but
organic material, with antimatter and plunorium, another new
discovery because organic material is matter so matter can't
be used, a force is created and moves the ship at warp.
These are prototype models.
At maximum velocities, the Omega Class starship forms a vibrant
blue-hot comet-like tail behind it. It is theorized it is formed by
superheated atoms colliding with the vessel. Deuterium is converted
to plunorium via a quantum chiller conversion unit, at significant but
acceptable fuel economy penalties.

Impulse engines: Standard IFC impulse engines.
Scanners: The scanner are short range ( 1- 950 km), long
range scanners (951- 1,000,000 km), and cloak scanners
which use ionized particles to scan for cloaked ship up to 50 km.
Scan shielding: Shields that reflect sensors so the Vorzakk
can't be scanned, a prototype model, first used on the USS Zodiac.
Holofilter: The holofilter gives sensors a false image of the ship.
Visual realism limited to a minimum of 40,000 km (transporter range).
Results ultimately depend on how similar in size and shape the image to be
projected is, as well as the quality of the sensors of the scanning entity.
Standard projected image is of an Akira Class vessel.
Tractor beam: A new prototype model that has 9000 klwz of
power and can tow up to 1 million tons and fairly uses any
power of the ship. There are two installed on the ship.
Space probes: Standard class 1-9 space probes with usually
five of each class of probe. There is also a new class 10
probe, which little information is known about, but is known to
be the size of a shuttle pod.
Shuttles: The Vorzakk has a new shuttle bay, first used on
the USS Zodiac which can store shuttles and have many
shuttles ready. The usual compliment is one (Danube Class) runabout (the
USS Tagus), 7 shuttlecraft and 5 shuttle pods.
One of the shuttles, used to retrieve personnel from a
hostile K'lantri ship, is called the "Isis". The Vorzakk was found
stripped of many components, including auxiliary craft. Therefore,
we are stocked with modern-day shuttlecraft.
Warp ejection: In an event of an emergency the warp core
can be ejected or all plasma and anti-matter can be put into
the nacelles and the nacelles would be ejected. Ejection is along
the Y-axis - directly aft.
Transporters: There are five transporter rooms onboard the
Vorzakk and 4 cargo transporters. They all are Webber's
Class 4 transporter systems.

General information-
OUTLINE OF THE USS VORZAKK'S OBJECTIVES:
- Provide a ship for war capabilities, but at the same time can
conduct scientific investigations and deep space long-range missions.
-Provide a new ship using some of the newest ships in
Starfleet and combine their technology into one ship.
CONCLUSION :
When this ship was stolen from the future it was decided
by Starfleet Command that it was not to be destroyed but all
records of its exsistence were to be erased. Since the future
arrived at was considered to alternate much of the
technology might have been lost forever. Upon the request of
Capts. Dillon and Thompson all reco it has been but to work
as a rim operative. Working deep in the Beta Quadrant it will
probably not see starbase for 20 months. During which time it
will maintain radio silence and explore area where other
starships of lesser design cannot get close to. For exemplary
performance Cmdr Castellow has recieved a field rank of
captain and command of the newly christened Vorzakk.
Abandoned in the future, the Vorzakk was stripped of fuel, shuttles, and
many components. Most memory banks were also purged. In addition, the Vorzakk
was left with many anti-theft "booby traps" onboard - many of them quite
dangerous. It is not known if all have been safely found and disarmed.
The Vorzakk received a brief refit/restock at Deep Space 7. (ZFC #23)
The refit consisted of: replaced some of the weapon mounts with additional
sensor and SIF equipment plus additional structural reinforcing gamma welds
However, most of the vessel, its technologies and capabilities have not been
fully explored. The Vorzakk was developed by Vulcans, and hence its
interface was initially set to the Vulcan language. Its colour is black.
A special security protocol of note involves the unscheduled presence of
Romulans on the vessel. If not specified otherwise, the ship computer
automatically transports any Romulan onboard to the brig and confines them
there. If this is not possible, the ship will exchange fire with its
internal weapons systems. If over 60 Romulans board, the ship assumes arms
the self-destruct sequence. All these features can be overridden with the
authorization of 2 senior officers present.
[Deck-by-deck analysis is a recommended spec only. When designing I
tried to make it very warship-like. Certain design cues are taken from a
cheesy sketch of the Vorzakk I drew, currently in the hands of V.Adm. Dillon]

[Final Notes: (the ones that got me the position I hold now last year)
1) The Vorzakk's powerful, but it isn't invincible. Remember that.
2) Since it's small and military, chances are you won't find a basketball
court or any other luxuries. In the a previous RPG, it has been suggested the
Vorzakk doesn't have shocks either. There are two holodecks, however,
obviously due to it has many non-recreational uses (research, training) too.
3) Who knows what secrets the ship holds? Maybe there are hidden rooms,
weapons...or traps. Perhaps its security system isn't fully deactivated. There
might be even stowaways. There's already evidence of this. The Vorzakk
employs many fatal anti-theft traps, like door frame phaser cutters and a
transporter remat detonator/scrambler. Stowaways included a Betazoid with
cybernetic implants - Capt. Terminal, and an AI - Lt. Justin Pittman (who my
character doesn't seem to like too much)
