It's rather amazing what a little extra time with Mr. Miyamoto can do for a game. StarFox 64 is a case in point. At last years' Shoshinkai, we caught a glimpse of this title in its very early stages. Comparing those pictures to the ones we have access to now, thanks to the kind folks at Video-Source, makes last years' previously impressive graphics seem laughably old-fashioned. |

The image you see above is, amazingly, not FMV! It is in fact a realtime polygonal sequence, and whoa, is it impressive! The game itself looks to be just as aesthetically astounding, and it should (hopefully) incorporate gameplay elements from the now-defunct Star Fox 2. Why that game was scrapped is beyond me, as everyone who has played it calls it one of the most innovative games of all time. It is confirmed that multiple vehicles will be included in the game, with the obvious inclusion of the Arwing and the little "Land Rover" seen in some of these pics, along with a few other vehicles. |

Now, that Miyamoto-san is finishing up his work on the all-important Mario Kart R, he should be turning quite a bit of his attention to Star Fox 64, which only means the game will improve even more over the next few months, if that is of course humanly possible. Rumors of the game being on tracks are so far been disproven, as many pictures and movies depict the Arwing flying backwards, and the "Land Rover" sequences would be impossible to pull off using tracks. If you're worried, I'll give you my personal guarantee that this game will be nothing less than astounding, whether you like the first one or not. |
The image to my left depicts the level of graphical detail being used
within Star Fox 64, a level which looks to be unsurpassed so far
among video games (although you can never be sure with the N64 8^) .
Although I was never a fan of the cartoony characters, it would appear
that they have translated well into the polygonal world, and hey, I havn't
seen that anooying Slippy yet, so I'm happy! :) With a tried and
true gameplay formula, and some truly impressive aesthetics, Star Fox
64 looks to be yet another N64 smash hit.
