Because we care about you as our customers, we want to make sure your experience with Northwood Log Cabin Manufacturing is a great one. Therefore, we want you to backup your current HOUSE files and FAMILY files. We have already created new directories on your hard drive to eliminate a few of the steps to this. What you need to do now is go into your C:\Program Files\Maxis Directory and look for the directory that was extracted when you installed your new log cabin. It is called Northwood Manufacturing. In that directory you will see two more directories we have created for you. One is called Old Family Files and the other is Old House Files. Now that you know where they're at, go into the directory called C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\Houses\ and copy all of the house files (House01.iff, House02.iff, etc.) and put them into the Old House Files directory we showed you. DO NOT DELETE THEM. Only make COPIES of them! Now go to the directory C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\Export\ and copy ALL of the files from it, into the Old Family Files directory we showed you. DO NOT DELETE THEM. Only make COPIES of them! It's very important we move your family into the LOT where the new house will go, BEFORE you move the house onto it. If you don't do it in this order, you will have to pay FULL PRICE, as listed on the description pages, for your new home. The way you move your family is first you evict them. This is done by starting the game, clicking on the bulldozer icon at the top of the neighborhood screen, and clicking on the house that your SIMS currently live in. When asked if you want to bulldoze the property, ONLY CLICK YES if the property (Lot #) is the same as the Lot # that your new house is built on. To check which lot number your house is built on go back to the FIRST description screen here at the store and look at the stats for your new log cabin. The lot # will be listed there. After evicting your family, click on the "move-in new family" screen and select your family. Move them into the LOT # that your new log cabin is built on. Now, SAVE THE GAME and exit it completely. Step Four: Importing your new home into the game Now that you've moved your family in, you're all set to move the house into the game. Go back to the C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\Houses\ directory and take the file that has your new house's lot number, (example: House01.iff), and delete it. Now, rename the .iff file for your house as the same filename that you just delete. (Example: If you're moving into a Rocky Mountain Hideaway model of ours, you would delete House01.iff and rename rockymountain.iff to House01.iff because the rockymountain model is made on Lot #1! Well. there ya go! Now just start up the game and click on the lot that you moved the house into and you should be ready to play! On a side note, occasionally there will be a red crosshair in the SIMS' profile picture the first time you import a house. If this happens, just left-click their picture and they will appear close to the middle of the whole lot which usually puts them in the middle of the house or towards it. Please note, we are doing all of this work to provide you with incredibly detailed and furnished homes. We'd like to ask in return that you simply send off an e-mail telling us how you liked your new home!! You can e-mail us at Synchroplay@abac.com. Thanks!
