Rampaging derby action graces the PlayStation!!


     Destruction Derby, a fast paced, action-packed racing game, sets a new standard in terms of outlandish, fun gameplay. With a plethora of options to choose from, the fun never ends with this wacky disc.
     The graphics in this game are slightly above average, with good explosive graphics, but the actual car and track graphics are just average. Nothing outrageous, nothing really new, but good nevertheless.
     The sounds are not very good. Boring music accompanies the races, and the comments from the announcer grow repetetive very quickly.
     One thing that this game has going for it is its originality. I personally have never seen a game quite like this one, with so many varied styles of play. Overall, if you're looking for something new, this is a game to get.
     The controls are fairly responsive until your car is mashed to hell, and then it is just plain awful, as it should be (I guess). However, this makes for extreme difficulty when trying to finish out a close race or derby. It really takes some getting used to, so if you're a stickler for perfect controls, steer clear of Destruction Derby.
     This game is fun but without the Multi-Link, there is no two-player option. With a variety of settings, this game will last for quite some time. However, annoying controls, average graphics, and repulsive sounds make for a game that doesn't live up to its expectations.
