Two gargoyle beasts greeted the females as they landed. A dark green beast with a jagged mouth and a white blaze that reached up between his eyes and the other was a very young female, orange gargoyle beast that looked like a cat in most every way other than being bigger than an adult cat already, having clawed feet, and regularly glowing eyes of white. Both beasts barked at the pair and once Jilly’s feet were on the battlements again she rushed forward and picked up the gangly gargoyle beast pup.

“’Lo, Kat!” she laughed, she could never get over a cat looking object sounding like a dog, “You been good and behaved like your Uncle Blaze?” The cat like gargoyle beast’s tail wagged like a long propeller whipping about playfully as she barked in reply while her “Uncle” Blaze looked on exasperated. Kat more than likely had lead the older gargoyle on a marry chase about the hidden remains of the once gorgeous castle that had been known as Camelot and the British Clan’s current home.

“Aisugriff!” a sharp voice commanded and the four gargoyles turned to see Leader not looking very please. With a tilt of his bear looking head he walked off slowly. Aisugriff knelt to Jilly’s eye level then and smiled at her though there seemed to be a guilty look in her eyes as she looked at her little cousin.

“I’ve gotta talk with Leader, you keep an eye on Blaze and Kat, alright?” the griffon gargoyle told her. Jilly nodded happily, not realizing that her cousin wasn’t quite happy by what ever she had to talk to Leader about, “Keep’em out of trouble.” Jilly nodded again with a wide grin, her upper canines showing and making her look some how innocent and mischievous at the same time. Aisugriff chuckled and ruffled Jilly’s blond hair before caping her wings in one graceful motion and following the tawny bear looking gargoyle.

Jilly watched in awe at how impressive her cousin was. In the hatchlings eyes, Aisugriff was a noble looking figure that almost always knew what to do. Not to mention she’d caped her wings as if she were swirling a cloak into place upon her back if she had been human. She didn’t see the way the griffonish gargoyle seemed to wince as she followed Leader around a corner for their talk.

“So she finally let you come down?” a voice asked behind her. Jilly turned to find Kurt behind her, looking smug and petting the two gargoyle beasts.

“Yeah, she gave me an extended lesson!” Jilly beamed.

“Herald did the same for me,” Kurt replied keeping his eyes on the dog like gargoyles, “Except he didn’t let me fall.”

“I didn’t fall because of her!” Jilly snapped back.

“Oh, I know,” Kurt replied with a smirk, “You broke away from her and tried that little trick. Are you telling me for once you’re owing up to your mistakes?”

“It was a loss in air current, Kurt!” she growled back at the fox like gargoyle.

“I know that too,” Kurt finally looked at the light green-eyed gargoyle, “I was up at the same time but Herald had a hold on me so when I lost it I was just hanging from him.” The two hatchlings laughed. As much as the duo bickered they were possibly the best of friends as well as rivals.

“So, Jill,” Kurt continued, now only stroking Kat as he talked, “Any ideas on what to do for the rest of the night? It’s only a few hours till dawn ya’ know?” Jilly looked longingly too the east as if expecting to see the sunrise already starting to tint the sky. Instead the hatchling saw a soft tint of gray, telling of dawn being at least another two hours away. But still…

“Let’s get a seat in one of the eastern perches,” Jilly grinned finally at her friend who could only chuckle and roll his eyes, “We might actually get a chance at seeing a piece of the sun for once.”

“We can try, we always do after all,” Kurt giggled, “And we always seem to just miss it.”

“Just wait and see, Kurt,” Jilly huffed as she always did when Kurt made fun of her idea of seeing the sun, “One of these days I’ll see the sun fully. I’ll feel it warm my back. I’ll…”

JillyJilly trailed off as off in the distance something sparked catching her eye. Kurt and the gargoyle beasts sensed it too. As the foursome watched the spark was suddenly accompanied by a number of sparks. As the hatchlings watched the sparks flared.

“Aisu! Aisu! Come look! The sun’s coming up and I can see it!” Jilly yelled not taking her eyes away from the once in a life time look at the sun and pointed excitably at it.

“Jilly, the sun won’t be up for three hours,” Aisugriff called back and there was a soft grunt of annoyance that came from Leader as he turned to see what the light blue hatchling was making up this time. Both bear and eagle like gargoyles turned wide eyed at the flares before them half a league from the castle.

“Brooklyn!” Aisugriff whispered with a grin confusing Kurt who was still bewildered by what was happening.

“Timewalkers is more like it!” Leader growled under his breath.

“Timewalkers?” Aisugriff wondered, for a moment taking her eyes off the balls of light before them. Leader only sighed and grunted. Watching the balls of fire fluctuate is gold, orange and, bits of blue, finally he spoke.

“Griff, go and get your mother and your aunt,” Leader commanded, all anger at what had happened earlier now forgotten, “Ask them if they have the ‘Time to walk with me and talk about the fires this evening’ in those exact words.”

“Is something wrong, Leader?” Aisugriff, “Do you not believe this is Brooklyn and his family timedancing back to us?”

“Do as you are told, Aisugriff, and ask no more questions of me!” Leader growled. He then took in the hatchlings that had turned from the now faded fire in the sky, “And take these two with you.” Aisugriff frowned and gathered the two hatchlings, both who looked quite confused, herding them off in the direction they might find their mothers. Leader on the other hand looked on seeing countless silhouettes opening wings and circling about their appearance point.

“So which Timewalker generation comes to see us this time… after nearly fifty year?”

What happened before this? Onward we go!
