Expedition to Noumea

I went to Noumea on the 9th July, 2000, which is in New Caledonia. I went with most of the family, for about a week. I had a pretty nice time, it is a pretty nice place. Beautiful naked dollies on the beach, mum enjoyed the sight. Food, of a French culture, was tasty, L' Amedee being the favourite restuarant. We all learnt a lot of French, especially the foods, eg Poulet - chicken, Crevettes - prawns. All expensive, which is the downside, but then it is a fairly isolated island, everything is imported.

Apparantly they are known for their Nickle, the country has a lot of it in the ground. If you notice in the photo below, the ground to the side of the road is red, possibly being iron oxide, maybe nickle oxide is red too. Tourism is also a high contributor to their economy I assume, considering how expensive it is, and also the number of hotels there.

It may take a while to load, there are 5 photos on this page, depends how fast your connection is I guess. Hmm cable on 23rd July coming my way.

This was the day we drove into the country, lots of hills to drive off, windy roads, lots of fog. As you can see, there's not a lot stopping you from sliding off the side of the mountain, hence the numerous crosses we saw along the side of the road.

I liked these trees, they reminded me of the trees in the Salvadore Dali print I have hanging on my wall.

This was taken the day I hired and rode a bike around the joint. The beach was nice, nothing compared to our Sydney beaches though. It was very windy for some of the days we were there; a lot of wind surfers took advantage of this.

This photo was taken a little later on into my cycling exploration. This seemed like quite a large ship, so I took a photo of it. The island behind it was at one stage completely behind the ship, but I guess that is a question of perspective.

This photo again was taken on my cycling expedition. I decided to ride up this mountain, give my body a bit of a challenge. So I was riding along peacefully, perhaps struggling, but this French guy tells me I have to turn back, unfortunate. (Mind you, I couldn't understand what he was saying, cause it was in French, but you get the idea when he starts getting angry.)

Here is a business card of the best restuarant we found in Noumea. Regardless, it is expensive, like every other restuarant, but I suppose it was the best food we had there.
